I am promoting my site for a low competition keyword, i blasted comments links and got 14000 links indexed. Created web 2.0 profiles. some forum profiles, bookmarked using senuke and now i am on 2nd position for a week i have been trying hard but got no clue how to get on number 1.
Please tell me what can i do now?

If you've reached number 2, you're clearly doing something right. Simply keep it up and HAVE PATIENCE. The #1 spot will be yours eventually. Just don't get impatient and blast an unusual amount of links or you might get noticed and punished. Keep up a steady stream of links just like before and be patient. Also, make sure to vary your anchor tags, link building methods and do/nofollow style so everything seems as real to Google as possible. Good luck.

Yep I was gonna say the same. Try some white hat stuff for a while, manual work, good articles etc..

Next step would be to get some edu and gov back links.

good luck

Be cautious on how fast you build your backlinks. You don't want Google to sandbox your site.

Are you getting any traffic and making any money from that spot?

I would sit back and do some gentle backlinking for the next week or so, let google put you there on its own before you try and force your way up.

Arch

when you're on 2nd place in google you can already say if the site will bring any $$$ or not. If it's not brining 30% of what you've expected it to bring, I wouldn't continue with that site.

Add a mix of different links, high PR manual posts, continue what you are doing but don't blast your main site with scrapbox, etc any more.

Whatever you do don't suddenly stop backlinking and move onto another keyword - add a handful of links every week otherwise your site will most likely get sandboxed.
