Hey I've been reading about article marketing here and there and I understand for at least a few of those services (SEOLinkVine, UAW) have a free signup where you become part of their network, automatically receiving articles from them.

Question: now this might be controversial and anti-social to the rest of you here, but seeing as this is BHW and all....

Is anyone taking the tactic of accepting those articles but editing them so the links don't point to your competitors but back to you (assuming you only accept articles related to your keywords that is)?

I *think* that some of the services actually have a script to see if you are editing links. I've only read that and have no proof.

If this is the kind of stuff you want to do though, why use an article network for you content when you can scrape it from article directories with something like WP Robot. Stripping the links from those is also against TOS, but seems simpler then manually accepting blog network stuff.

That will work just fine until they realize you are cheating and drop you from the network. Short term it would work but why lose all your other links for such a small benefit. If the benefits (links from the whole network) are not worth the price (cost of domain you contribute) is not worth it then you should either find another network or just scrap content like has already been suggested just create your own network of sites.

Yeah, I realized after I posted what you both are saying. It just doesn't make sense to go to the trouble to do that when you can just scrape or spin your own articles. Anyhow thx for the replies.

I dont think that any one would have the time to go through the trouble of going through all of that. Why not use it properly and use the same effort to promote or spin your own stuff? The admin must have sort of a check though that will not allow editing or some tohter thing like that.
