My apologies if this is a stupid question, but how would I go about becoming an affiliate for a site?
I see a lot of guides here that proclaim that you should do x and y and then leave your affiliate link for a site, but when I visit that site there's no clear specification on how to become an affiliate. Do I have to contact the site directly and ask? Is there a site that allows you to become an affiliate for other sites?
Again, I apologise if this seems like a stupid question, but I can't find a clear answer.

There are many ways to become an affiliate.
One of the easiest ways is to become an affiliate for Clickbank products.

You can create blogs or promote the products in other ways such as Google Adwords. You have to be careful with Adwords though because it can cost you a lot of money if you do not know what you are doing.

The way to start really is to make blogs and direct traffic from writing articles on Ezine Articles or other article directories.

Then of course there is offline affiliates like in my previous post.

General practice is to join a network which brokers offers for multiple vendors/advertisers rather than approaching the company and asking them if they have an affiliate program.

Of course, there are a few companies that run in house affiliate management, but the upside of joining a network often out-weighs the downside of paying the network a commission, which is why 95% if not more of companies who are advertisers in the affiliate industry, use a network.
