Adobe Flash is a piece of shit. All it's good for is to play advertisements and commercials. I usually uninstall it, and only install it when I absolutely have to.

I'm not real familiar with DP but I have seen on several forums where people have multiple accounts. The give away can be anything.

The way you type, such as misspelling of the same words or grammatical mistakes can be a give away.

Thanking or posting in your own threads can give you away if you do it too often. Fake itrade ratings can draw attention as well.

All it takes is for someone to notice these things and report you. After that the mods can dig a little deeper into your login history and put 2 and 2 together to equal a ban.

Use the Better privacy addon for firefox and you can delete flash cookies every so many seconds like I do ;-)

Don't all computer have a unique id that can be tracked?

Why not try a Virtual Machine as well as the different ip, That way you avoid the need to always clear your cache.

MAC Address, which as far as I know, can be accessed by a Java command, if you have Java enabled.

It's not need. It might just be some hardcore security plugin for vBulleting that the owners decided to install. Pretty much the same way everybody barricades their WordPress installs with tenths of security plugins.

Besides that there's a feature in the backend called "Pruning". This pruning clears out member accounts based on preset criteria.

If the hash is "unique", then even one character difference in the hash means the indentity is completely different, so rotating browser, IP address etc... affords anonymity. You said "unique" and not "approximate", so if one thing is different, the whole has is different.

All of these identifiers could also be used by Craigslist, one of the hot topics here. Screen size? Really?

Look at everything Google Analytics can track. If they can track it, so can everyone else. Half of the information is passed through the useragent string though.

Any chance you (or someone else) has a link to a source that details ALL the information given up when you browse? I thought I had seen "everything", but I'm certain Screen Size is a new one. There ought to be a centralized source for this somewhere.

There are two types of data you send off. There's the browser request data (that comes from the request, packed in headers - IP, UA string, Browser Capabilities and everything else the browser sends) and the client-side data that can only be retrieved with client-side coding (remember the <script> tag in HTML) - this one sends all that metrics you see in Google Analytics under Technology: operating system, screen resolution, color depth, browser window size and you can even track other sites that were visited.

For example, if a site puts a link to www.ebay.com, and in CSS it adds custom color for visited links, the color of that link can be easily looked at with javascript and sent back to the server.

Also there's Google Analytics which is almost everywhere - even here on BHW. If you're logged into your Google Account and you have Adsense, and you're visiting BHW, although Google's Privacy Policy says they don't look at it, the data is still collected.
