Biggest Mistake in your IM Career

Flipping between multiple methods and not playing off of my natural strengths. Sometimes the most profitable method isn't right for you if it doesn't mesh well with your personal strengths. And if you don't stick at something, you will never become good at it.

working on multiply projects at the same time and never really finishing anything started just because a new project was started.

Likewise, but my projects are all still "ongoing"... I am not giving up yet. Just proceeding at a slower pace.

Not charging what I'm worth at first. It's much harder to talk someone up in price when they already paid you a little amount. Decide what you are worth, add $500-$1000 on top of that and get comfortable quoting that price, say it with a straight face and be calm. They can always talk you down, but if you start in a lower position you will have a lot of trouble going up. I did that at first and now I don't. But if I didn't make that mistake I would have had a much easier year starting out.

The only mistake I made was and is lack of productivity. Though I'm getting better, since I moved into an office and stopped sleeping 'till 12 it drastically improved. Still not where I would like to be but much better. I actually planned on making a post here on productivity techniques, maybe I'll do it today.

My biggest mistake was not starting when I should have. I realize now that if I had started doing the things that I should have five years ago I would have many more different streams of income and my sites would be ranked better in Google.

I started one site and because I couldn't figure out how to get the Scientology ads of my Adsense I gave up and just focused on doing the IM stuff for work instead of for myself. Now that I have learned that lesson and ironically enough I am doing the same thing I used to do for work for myself and I am doing the IM on a daily basis.

It's ironic. Five years ago I thought that I would be this high level exec and I reached that within three years only to quit my job and start doing it all for myself. It was like I needed to hit that life goal, before I could start all over and do it for myself.

great idea for a thread. This is why we should always welcome newbies. They haven't been institutionalized like the rest us by IM. Every once in a while one will ask a question that none of us thought to ask before.

My advice as someone in this business for 2 years and only now starting to make money (albeit small atm) is don't waste valuable time learning how to code, set up website, backup databases, restore databases. Yes this info is helpful but it will take you a long time to learn from scratch.

The thing is, and you probably don't realise this now, is that everyone who enters IM enters with a stop watch attached to them counting down the time until they will lose interest in IM and go back to trying to find a regular job. With that said, you must cut through any unnecessary mistakes or time-wasting tasks right now so as to give yourself the best chance of making some good money before the stop watch times out and leaves you wanting to leave IM becuase you didn't make any money while you were in it.

Outsource all technical stuff.

biggest mistake is i never start internet marketing when i was much younger, i know about this website but i keep it hanging.

spending 2 weeks getting a very targeted scrapebox list of AA blogs on actual page rank of 5 plus which were on relevant niches. After 2 weeks i had a list of 790 blogs on seperate domains.

Then in a matter of seconds i saved over that damn txt file with a crappy first phase scrape of 50k useless blogs.

I think i cried that night

Spending too much time reading and flipping between methods. Should have started years ago when it was much easier. Oh well, hindsight.

Signing up at DP was the biggest DOH!

This right here describes a lot of fields surrounding computing in general. I'm going to steal this. Very insightful stuff.
