What does "EMD" mean?

Finaly someone asked , i was about to ask =).

i dont know the meaning of EMD maybe some google could tell us but i think they are talking about .com, .net, and .org only.

am i right?

Here are some of my question for Nick Flame and Napster:

*What if a site (EMD or not) ranks in the top 5 for a RELATED keyword? Let's say that howtobrushyourteeth.c0m ranks number 1 for its EMD keyword BUT it also ranks for "brushing the teeth everyday" and with this keyword, howtobrushyourteeth.c0m ranks number 3.

For the sake of the question, let's say that "brushing the teeth everyday" is also moderately competitive as "how to brush you teeth."

By analyzing that, I decided to make a Blogger blog and found out that the exact match of "brushing the teeth everyday" is still available in blogger? Will I ever have the chance to rank number 1?

In this situation, I am very sure that I have better and unique link building tactics than the competition.

Do I have a chance?

You can rank for the "brushing the teeth everyday" keyword with .com or .org domain. blogger blog will require more work.

i did a quick keyword research and found a keyword

EMD : yes .org available

.com or keyword in domain not in top 10 position

exact search : 12000+

allintitle: 9834
allinurl: 3900

but all top 10 sites have atleast PR 1

anything to add to the list..?

Are the top 10 sites are famous sites, like wikipedia, amazon?

Exact match domain for your keyword. Let say you keyword is "my super keyword" The emd will be mysuperkeyword.com

Any extension is an emd. But .com, .org .net are easy to rank

This is the main reason i posted. I even saw some guys keyword research tool working by this.

There's a better way of looking at competition.

Look at the Domain Authority, and Page Authority of each URL ranking Top 10.

Ya, I checked. And he explained it too. He says if ad competition is high the serp is also mostly high (which is true in some cases). I consider him as my "guru". So, if you think he is mistaken, say nicely, I also saw another post of yours bashing about him. I mean even advanced seo people can forget one or two basic things.

@NapsteR - good thing you started this thread because, like you said, there are a lot people who still think that is for SERP comeptition.

@DamageX - BTB is not the only Jr.VIP who said that. there are more people who still believe that.

I don't think I've ever bashed him, or even posted about him in any other thread. But if I did, please point me to where I did so, 'cause I sincerely don't remember it.

As for my post in this thread, it was just that, pointing out that even experienced IMers make mistakes. Which means you shouldn't take everything at face value, but rather think for yourself. Which is something few noobs ever do.

i normally go for allintitle and inurl < 50k like the op stated, but from my personal experience EMDs are a bit overrated. i mean go check every single on-page seo analysis tool, and you will see that what matters is the keyword being present on the url.

it pulls all the details needed to calculate a keyword competition and gives you a general competition score. of course you should read the full report to evaluate it better.
