How to change Verizon DSL IP address?

hi, i just got verizon dsl after reading about how it would let me change ip quick, but now i cant get it to work, i can only get a new ip after a long time and shutting off the modem. help! thanks

you will get a new ip wenn you restart your modem

Just disconnect the connection and reconnect, it's much faster. Check your network connections it will be listed there, make a shortcut on desktop.

He said he has verizon, which is PPPoE. Disconnect/reconnect will log in again and he will get new ip.

You need to call Verizon's support and give them some reason and they will let you change your ip every minute.

it really dpeends on your connection. sometimes a disconnect/reconnect will do it....other times a power cycle wont even do it. basically use socks5

Well is depends on your setup, changing much? You need to be a bit more specific. Most people that get DSL for ips set the modem to bridge mode and direct connect it to a pc for quick ip changing(the pc does the login).

If your router is doing it you can script something or you will have to log into your router interface and make it change. You don't normally use a router if you want to do quick IP changing. It's pointless anyways if you going to be changing IPs often why share the connection with a router. If you only plan on changing it occasionally then router is fine but as I said you have to login to it or do like you have been.

Again you really haven't given any details so no idea which of these ways pertains to you.

You don't call to change your IP, don't listen to whoever said that. Set your stuff up for easier changes or take ages resetting the modem.

First i'm no expert at this stuff but I think a clue was given earlier.

You have a modem and a router? Did you bridge to your router?

Basic set up now is connecting to your Router. You need to connect to the Modem.

I'm working on this scenario too. (I set up a wireless network and bridged and has a computer with a static ip for utorrent. I can't get a new ip either)

Isn't that the problem? I'm sure you can do it through your router but I think you need to unbridge the modem. And then reset it.

I'm thinking of getting a cable connection too, just for wireless. Go back and set dsl without the bridge. I think it's bridge mode and setting a computer with a static ip.

The last time I had DSL:

The lower left of your windows screen click start, type in CMD in the search box.

When you get to the command prompt type in-

ipconfig/release

You will get to the prompt again type in-

ipconfig/renew

Give it a try used to work for me when i had DSL but it has been a while.

I use disconnect/reconnect in the homepage of 192.168.1.1. Works for me..
