Hi I just thought I would ask you lot as you all know a shit load more than me!

I basically have been running a blog that i set up in february since then it has been ranked by google etc and i bring in well over 300 visitors a day who view well over 1,000 pages between them.

I recently recieved a email asking if i would be willing to place a text link on my site for a company that is ALOT bigger than mine (according to alexa)

They said they will get a professionally write article that is targetted to my audience and that they will pay me $175 for a year.

Does this sound feasable? It seems like a good deal to me as i dont get offers like that much and i only just started the site but i may be getting ripped off lol

I think i got the exact same email.

It was $100 a year for a homepage contextual backlink ad $175 for a brand new page on my site with professional article and backlink.

The site in question can earn that much in a day on its own so i turned them down.

So depends on your site, income and if you need the money.

Damn would love to hear what big company is going the paid guest blog route - PM me if you'd like - I would like to check out their backlink profile.

I approach webmasters all day for kinda the same sort of thing (guest blog posts) and have yet to offer any of them cash.

Maybe I should start though...it would probably make my job a lot easier - albeit a lot more costly.

Oh who am I kidding I don't have 200 bucks to throw at every backlink I want!

if it has PR then it could be worth it for them.
plus the way this generally works is you put up the link and then pay you usually within a 3 to 7 days. and its generally gambling links casino, lottery, lotto and the likes

I just had another look over their site and I see they have an office in Harley Street which is quite an expensive place to have an office lol

Bestmate - They never offered me the first option you said, they literally emailed and asked if I would be interested in being paid for a backlink I responded and asked what kind and how much then they said what i mentioned above.

Quite strange, what would happen if I accepted it anyway? nothing bad in terms of google ranks right?

Cheers for checking it mate, I told them to send over the draft article so ill see that and then tell them yay or nay I gather they know what the site is about as they looked me up and are willing to pay so they should do a relative article.

And Bookmarc they are a social media company so it sort of runs in line with my niche

I would check the site that they want you to link to. Make sure it's not doing anything dodgy, check the cache for no obvious cloaking, no links to dodgy viagra sites etc. Bear in mind that linking to a really shitty site can get you penalized.

If it looks ok then take the money and run!
