Google gone crazy with todays PR update?

There has been a PR update this morning! Yes, again!

Here is what it did to me:

My main site lost from PR4 to PR1 (Note: I added 2 PR5 and 4 PR3 Links after the first update) the site is sited in DMOZ and Wikipedia as well...

All other sites went from 0 to PR1 without doing something to them!

I set up an autoblog about a week ago. It was indexed this weekend and now got a PR2 even without any links!

What the hell is going wrong at google?
Anyone experiencing the same stuff?

YUp ... at the last update, dropped from a 3 to a 1 .. it's now back at a 2 after some internal work was carried out ...

I am pretty convinced that structure has a lot to do with what is going on ...

Edit 2:
Now Google is completly crazy!
My Blog on my main site went from PR0 to PR3!
So
www.domain.com from 4 -> 1
www.domain.com/blog 0 -> 3 (never did any link building)

It is pretty accurate on my part. The ones that are getting high traffic reached pr 4 and 5. The ones that aren't dropped to pr 2. The ones that stayed the same are currently pr 3.
I don't really care since these pr do not increase my serps.

- link building methods;
- how often posts were posted;
- if they sites contained any links;

Moreover, besides, did anything happen in the SERPS? or just the usual things?

The first update was crazy IMO but I suspect yesterday update was the actual one; that is the real indication of where your PR should be. We should be seeing the next one in Nov/Dec 2012. Till then....

While another update is pretty crazy and I had about 35 sites affected one thing you need to keep in mind is that while the PR update is a snapshot of what Google thinks your PR should be is it is not a snapshot of today.

I am not sure about todays but the PR update from last month was using information that was at least a month old and probably closer to two months. While this last update probably used more recent data (and I have not had a chance to dig into it at all) I would be very surprised if any changes you made in the last few weeks were considered at all.

Hey,

It would be interesting to share with us (people who have lost PR) more details about the sites:
- link building methods;
- how often posts were posted;
- if they sites contained any links;

- Whitehat + Mass Blog post
- not very regular (twice a week!?)
- only internal links

I dont see any changes in SERPS for any of my sites!
Its somehow crazy that my inner page gets a higher PR without any link!
Isnt it?

HI,

I have a blog that is more than a year have a good serps standing and have a good amount of BL and it is PR 0. I really don't care about that since it is making me money even if it has no PR. And all I done to it is more white hat.

My main concern is my new site (2 weeks old). It is more of a blackhat site, youtube and facebook traffic with CPAL*** and not so legal stuff (cracks) I did not do any BL since it the main traffic is coming from YT and FB but today it is PR2

Any thoughts on this?

Is this still the projected time frame? I've been doing a lot with my site and am anxious to see if I can get it back up to a 4 (currently 3)

Ever since Panda, things have been pretty weird. My main site first went from PR 2 to PR4, and recently down to PR3. With Panda, it also shot up to the #1 spot (used to be around #5) for its most competitive keyword, and is ranking really well for 3,500+ keywords.

I have a few other sites that get hardly any traffic at all (ranging from 300 to 7,000 uniques per month), and don't rank very well in the SERPs, and yet they got boosted from PR0 to PR4.

I even recently started trying to get my mom into internet marketing and I helped her set up a website. It's practically brand new, and it is already PR4, although only getting about 300 visits per month.

This all just proves that PR has absolutely nothing to do with how much traffic you get OR how well the site does in the SERP's.

I too believe that it doesn't contain as much power has it once did before, however, I personally think that a high pr site can handle massive amounts of backlink blasts and doesn't suffer as much from Google in terms of getting sandboxed.

I just recently started working on a pr3 site of mine exactly one month ago. At the start it only had 12 backlinks to it. I now have over 10k and have never been kicked out of the top 100. I might stand somewhat corrected by the fact I'm blasting not to my main domain but different posts. Currently I'm doing roughly a new post every 3 days. Hand written unique content.

Other then the sandbox observation I also see that when I do a post I'm at least in the top 50 for my keywords within 1 hour of post. With a few backlinking campaigns I'm on the first page within 2 days and then start the fight for 1st. my keywords are competitive too.

So the reasons why I'm anxious is I feel that with a pr4 domain my posts will all get better rankings faster. Speed is what I'm after when chasing that #1 spot.

For sure, I agree that the higher the PR, the less likely it is to be penalized for link blasts. I have done a few scrapebox blasts directly to my site, as well as forum profiles. The weird thing is I haven't done a single update to my main site in 5 and a half months and it's consistently in the top 5 results for the past couple years (has been #1 for the past month or 2) for it's most competitive keyword (220,000 monthly global searches and a google search displays 155 million results).

I'm not complaining about this at all, but it drives me a little nuts because there's just not a whole lot of logic here so it makes it a little difficult to plan new projects.

I should also add that my site has 50+ CPA gateways (on-click events) and also has the maximum amount of adsense ads and link units on every page (just a couple things that supposedly can degrade SEO quality).

I agree with your total statement. I took this quote though because I also go a little nuts when I try and read up on SEO techniques. So far in the last few months I've read that blog comments were dead, article submissions were dead, profile links are dead and so on because of the panda update.

Here is what I have come to believe is true:

If all those links are dead then what does Google count? My answer: Them all and more. Secret answer: Consistency with link building and then gradual slow down.

I say study more on-page-SEO techniques and play around with those ideas. While doing your linking campaigns. Every post that I do I add 2-3 different techniques with on-page just to see how things go.
