Hey guys,

I am trying to rank for a mildly competitive keyword. So, I am about to create a link wheel with web2.0's but need your suggestions on how to go about it...So, I basically want to do something like this..

IYcSa

Now Here are my doubts.

1. Should I use spun content or original content for Web 2.0's
2. Should the topic be totally related to the keyword im trying to rank?
3. What anchor texts should I be using when linkbuilding my web 2.0s. Should I use the keyword or try to target related easy keywords?
4.Should I place my link immediately in the web 2.O's or after a couple of weeks.
5. Any more insight on how i should go about this.

since you are doing a closed linkwheel, so i would suggest you to no expect much from it as it is having almost very little to no effect in serp movement. Still, here are your answers.

1. Unique content would be great, but since its a closed linkwheel so go for spun content. If you see good movement for go another linkwheel with unique content for web 2.0.
2. Yes, it should be totally related to your topic with proper keyword density. Try to maintain 1.5% - 2% max keyword density
3. Well, here is the catch. It completely depends upon you. If you are using your primary keyword while building backlinks for web 2.0 properties then you are simply increasing your keyword's competition. So you can use some long tail keywords to build backlinks for your web 2.0 properties. Here is another benefit if you are using your keyword while building backlinks for your web 2.0 propeties, since web 2.0 is having high PR and very good domain authority, so they would rank pretty easily for your keyword and you can drive traffic to your main site from those web 2.0. Now at the end the choice is yours.
4. Place them immediately, so that when those web 2.0 gets indexed and crawled by google spiders, you get instant backlinks. if you put them after one week, ping those web 2.0 sites after adding link to your moneysite, so that google crawl it again.
5. My suggestion is dont do closed linkwheels, as it has already been tracked by google. Go for a open one.

Hope that helps. best of luck.

You suggest an open link wheel. So, would the following modification serve this purpose

How about not even interlinking any web 2.0s. Just send the links strait to the money site and not to each other.

Where are these guess posts coming from? Assuming they are worthwhile links why even incorporate those into a link wheel? Send those straight to your money website.

The point of link wheels is to artificially increase the "popularity" through linking but if you are guest blogging, and identifying worthwhile blogs (NOT BMR) then you should simply send those straight to the money site and bypass the wheel altogether.

These guest posts are coming from unique quality websites... I am able to get some of my articles published on these sites but I havent noticed much effect in the past probably coz there were no backlinks to my posted articles.

Hence, I want to try this strategy. Since these are authority sites that are publishing my guest posts, i can merrily blast the hell out of them and gain link juice.. Atleast thats what i am thinking..

Sure that's fine and all but why not create a link push rather than interlinking them and leaving an evident footprint, especially since its a closed linkwheel.

and an ideal link push will be??

Link pushes are definitely more effective in my experience than a standard linkwheel. Since the goal is to minimize your footprint, there isn't an "ideal" structure for a linkpush, it's more a guideline. The illustration is taken from BTB's sales thread but it's been the basis of how I go about backlinking and has worked very well. It's important to vary the properties you are using as well as how they are linking to eachother if you want your linking to look natural.

1. Original content will be better.
2. For first tier yes
4. After couple of days

Yes you are going completely on the track. This link wheel can help you a lot to gain backlinks and traffic.

Or you can read this forum closely and find all answers to your questions. Here also you can find some live results from peoples journeys and many other things and strategies for low to high competitive keywords

Link pyramids are a much better source of the links as compared to link wheels. Try for them as you are capable of putting up the effort I see.

hm! It depends surely but you need to add blogs and so on. + main page high pr links
I made about 300 ones by hand in four month
