For over 2 years now I have been playing around on the internet, building mini websites, blogs etc. But I have never seen any real profit from any of my ventures, I think the grand total as been about $11.00.

Just recently I decided to put my mind to it and I have built a dating forum that caters for a wide array of people's fantasies and I have a dream of what outcome I would like for my business.

Keep it free of charge until I have a large member base [x]

Once I have a large member base, start charging a fee to new members who wish to join the site. [x]

I make $$$ and I get off welfare!

The thing is I don't know how to get people to sign up for my website!

I have tried advertising on Youtube, but my videos get small views and negative reviews for being spammy advertising.

I have my meta tags set up for dating keywords.

I am stuck at the moment and don't know if to go white hat or black hat, I am just broke at the moment and need a steady income and I want to achieve that income from an online venture that I have built... something to be proud of.

Can any of the professionals here offer me some words of advice? Should I try and join a linkfarm and have that boost my visibility?

I am trying my hardest at the moment to learn the ins and outs of getting a site ranked as quickly as possible.

The guy who started Kentucky Fried Chicken was rejected by more then 1000 restaurants before one of them thought the idea and recipe were good.

It doesn't matter how many times you fail, you only need one thing to work for you and then you can grow it exponentially.


I would advise you put together your skills, reinforce them, and start selling some services to get some money. After that keep trying on your online ventures until you make it.

Well, your problem is not so easy mate.

We live in a world crammed with all kind of business, and online dating is no exception... There are hundreds of them, and some have whole teams of people who take care of their SEO, and SERPs.

There is no easy answer to your question. I would but suggest the following:

1. Try to be niche targeted in your dating service - target people from specific demographic group, specific age, specific location, specific something... You have not any chance to make any money being one man standing, with general dating site.

2. Once you chose this group you want to target, go to forums and other places where people from the community are located.

3. On these places, show the people that you have done special dating site, just for them and the alike...

This is the way to go in your position. Maybe some other members will give other advice, but for sure, with general dating site, your chances to succeed are close to zero.

You started at the wrong end, building the site. You need to re-think your strategy. First you need to check out what people search for. Second, once you've made a list of stuff people search for, you determine the competition. Third you create a site for stuff people search for with the lowest competition of all on your list.

Just because you like something and you *think* it might do well doesn't necessarily mean you'll be successful doing it.

And if anyone else tells you to do what you like doing best, slap the fucker upside the head, hard. Do what MAKES MONEY!

I personally don't recommend no hands seo but that is a personal choice.

As for your situation, if you don't believe in the universal laws of attraction, you should.

You aren't making any money because you are flatout asking NOT to receive any.

I don't normally give out this kind of info but, here is something for you...Take it seriously, use it and make the best of it.

Steps:

1. Immediately revamp your dating service site.


Research your market competitors and see what they are offering in services, free and paid.

Immediately turn your free level into ' free limited access ', as well as add a second ' paid full access ' level to the site.

Notify the current members of the changes BEFORE they go active and give them a transition date of when the new features go active. This will give them the chance to check it out, stay on and buy in.

$1/1st mth trial to stay on for pre-esisting customers. Do NOT offer a $1/month trial for new members. Go full price and move down to 50% cover/1st mth. You will screw yourself otherwise, due to $1/month jumping to a competitive $19.95/mth. vs. $9.95/mth going to full $19.95/mth.


2. Learn your business and stop looking for magic bullet methods.

That will leave you with more debt and your head blown off from looking down the barrel of loaded guns for a myth. Get serious and get to work...that is where the real magic is.

Learn your market, join into the free side of these sites yourself and investigate profiles to see what people look like, who they are and what they list, to build your business avatar profile model. Get to know your customers and who is actually interested in PAYING for the type of service you offer.

Learn about the features of your competitors and what the people are interested in and offer your twist on the same thing that is obviously working, as people are PAYING FOR IT THERE.

Learn about the content and philosophy, social techniques, tactics and interaction of your niche, hense ' DATING ' and offer them information content on how to get the job done and get that perfoect mate's attention, or at least get them in the ballpark for a freakin' shot - which is all people are asking for on these things...a chance.

That's it man. Two years for $11.00 is a long enough investment. Time to buy in new stock. Put what I've told you here to use and you will make money at this. It is 100% on your head if you don't, as it is up to you to do it. I don't consult for free. This is an investment in my own karma - giving back.

Don't waste the info, as I guarantee you someone else is about to become your competition as they are reading the same thing.

If that isn't a motivational call to action, I don't know what is.

I haven't personally tried No Hands SEO.

My principle of work with SEO is simple - "work". There are a bunch of threads popping up all the time with ideas or strategies, test and see what works for you.

But as the other members said, you have to start earning small, get some services, fiverr (as mentioned previously) and start learning while making money.

I would even start smaller, like DamageX suggested. If you do this for 2 years, you must have learnt some basics.

Research a handful of keywords in GoogleKWT. Something in the 500-1000 EXACT range will totally do. Use whatever tools you have to analyse competition or just search google for allintitle: keyphrase.

It's totally fine IMHO, if you spend 4-8 hours until you have 3-5 Keywords with:
- less than 500 allintitle results
- only PR0-PR1 sites in top10
- EMD available
- a decent advertiser competition
- minimum of $0.5 CPC
just make sure it's a buying/easily monetizable keyword


Once you got your keywords, build a WP blog for each of the keywords. Just use the default twentyten theme + All in One SEO Pack + WP Compressor plugin. Write just a handful of posts for each blog and do some very MINIMAL backlinking. Eventually only use the "$0.5 per URL" Bookmarking service offered here on BHW.


Wait a few days and see which of your blogs makes it right into top50 or better. Eventually one of your blogs will be on page one already for its keyword. Build just a bunch of manual backlinks to the blogs that are ranking and leave the blogs alone that didn't make it into top100.


After 3-4 weeks you should have at least one blog ranking #1 or close to. Assuming 10 unique visitors a day and a well selected keyword, you should get AT LEAST 1 click per day, which in turn should result in ... well - AT LEAST $11 per month.

While you wait for #1 rankings, research and build the next 5 blogs

Once you get the hang of it, go target some more competitive keywords with higher EXACT searches.

Repeat for as long as necessary

You can find some really great info on BHW that has taught a lot of people how to make a lot of money but don't just jump in and buy a service, I think you really need to forget everything you have learned about IM to date, and start again.

Learn how to set up niche wordpress sites in the dating industry (because you seem to be interested in this industry), by niche I mean do keyword research on some of the less travelled dating fetishes like wifelovers or mature women...there are plenty of dating affiliate programs with this niche that pay well.

If I can help or give you advice I will, feel free to pm me questions or post them here and i'll do my best to answer them.
