Backlinks for authority site?

HI,
I was reading the newest version of Xfactor adsense and I have been building an authority site. The plan is that the site will have hundreds of articles and I'm adding one per day slowly.
I am confused about backlink though. How should I build backlinks for my site? Should it be pointing back to the homepage or to the article page? There will be a lot of articles so I think it would be too much work.
Any suggestions?

if you are building an authority site and it has the potential to generate more than 5k per month with adsense, do not think of using comment links. There is a very high chance adsense will be disabled because of that. Trust me. I know it.

I am not saying do one or the other as I don't know your site/plan etc. But if you read what he says he suggests making the links for the front page rather than deeplinks (for the most part) as he feels the effort of repeated deeplinking isn't great enough to be worth it.

Personally I am also doing an authority site and am mixing and matching my backlinking techniques.

I would wanna know why you said so too. As i have been doing some high PR blog commenting here and there, pointing back to the homepage. Im doing it manually though, as i wanna keep it all whitehat.

After our one authority site hits big time, there will be a manual review someday. The G guy will come to your site, see if it greets him with " Hey. I am MFA and i got helluva comment spam ", your account will be banned. If your site has at least decent design and does not look like a MFA, you might pass a manual review. If the G guy is still suspicious and looks at your links and it is just pure spam, then it is very much possible that account will be killed.

Just speaking from experience to help you out. Anybody listening to this who wants to make it big time with adsense must adhere to webmaster policies as well. Having one niche authority site is still the best way to make money. But just make sure that you are doing it the right way so that you can bank hard for a very long term.

P.S.Manual blog commenting is not whitehat. See as the G guy sees it. Not what other gurus feed you.

Thanks for the insight, but what if all of my backlinks are not spam and normal comments? as i do it manually and not in a big scale.
My site is also not a MFA site and with very good looking design?

Are you going to monetize with adsense? And does the site have potential to make it big time? If yes, do not even think about xrumer and others. of course, if you are just trying to make some quick money and not for the long term, you can choose that route and will probly work. But if you want your site to live with adsense on it for a very long term, go whitehat.

Whilst I do feel sorry for you and wish you all the luck in the world I am concerned that you are passing on bad advice to people with regards linking. now I admit I could well be wrong, but nothing really, other than your own experience which is open to many, many interpretations, seems to suggest that 'white hat commenting' (as opposed to SB blasts) is likely to get your Adsense banned. It would be too easy to ban competitors.

Do you have any proof other than your own? If so I would be very interested in seeing it and if proven wrong will happily retract my comments!

That sucks... and it's a clear sign that G doesn't understand the value of allowing people to exploit it to a degree, as it is a mutual best interest.

That is their opinion for sure. Here the problem though, officially anything but sitting on your hands with both thumbs securely up the corn hole is blackhat in G's eyes. How are you supposed to inspire thousands of random real people to chatter about a site that never ranks in G in the first place. Chicken and the egg. So you simply need to lighten up on the blackhat as you grow so that natural white hat can gradually supplant. But I see NO way to begin without nasty little tricks.

Huh, all it says it you wont be able to fix any spammy promotion. Not sure how that translates into 'no blog commenting'...it doesnt mention commenting at all (though got to love being banned for talking about Thailand strip bars!)

chilli monster, let me clear it up. Do you mean commenting in related blogs? Or commenting in unrelated blogs where there are 100 more comments with Anchor text as name? Commenting in related blogs is fine. If you have a blogger community, commenting in problogger site is fine. Hope i made it clear.

That we are agreed on - but tbh I didnt think you were making that clear. You kept saying 'manual commenting is not white hat'. Manual commenting is white hat when used right - with worthwhile related comments on suitable posts.

The comment spam you are mentioning there is not whitehat, we are certainly agreed on that. But if people arent aware that writing any old rubbish on something not at all related and then throwing in a spammy link with anchor text is blackhat then they need to go back an do some SEO training!
