Should I be bothered spending an average of 50c on AdWords per click to potentially make $12.99 on a sale? Or should I focus on something that pays a better commission and has less competition to keep click cost down?

and yes, I managed to sneak a CB offer into AdWords :D

Made one sale so far.

Stats:
69 Clicks
5179 Imp
1.33% CTR
50c Av Click
3.2 Av Pos.

Order Form Imp - 4
Sales per Order Form Imp -1
= 1 Sale of $12.99

69 clicks at 50 cents is over 12.99 so wtf do you think, why even ask

Yeah I know, it's just that the order form impression / sales is pretty good  I'm a noob, still working my way around certain aspects of things.

LMAO..... You really need to understand ROI before you do anymore PPC.

The conversion rate looks okay but the ROI will have you looking for a job in no time. :)

I would look for a 50.00 product to break even, your formula will have you holding a homemade cardboard sign standing on the street corner begging for food, stop while u can.

ok there is actually several solution to your problem:
1- Decrease your max bid/click and see if you can get the same conversions
2- try different product with higher commission
3- If you can go black hat and manage 100s of adwords accounts with vouchers it will be gold mine

in adwords ad, include the price... and tell users what they are clicking. so you will get high conversion rate. create ad something like this

Code:
Buy YOUR PRODUCT at $13
90% off - Offer ends today
your site

And yes, it was stupid to give ads @ 50 cent for 12$ product. Try finding a less cpc keyword and high price product.

Thanks for the advice (and the wake-up slaps in the face) everyone :D

Adwords is one of those things where you need a lot of money to start (that you're prepared to lose) and you have to really be fanatical about tracking everything to find the right keywords etc in order to turn a profit.

Most of those cheap products are shit anyway. If it's actually decent, buy it yourself, clone the tour and stick it up on Plimus so you can keep all the profits. It makes a BIG difference to your margins with PPC if you own the product and don't have to do an affiliate revshare split.

There are also some guides to getting super cheap (1-5c) clicks using banners on the display network if you have a hunt around on the Downloads board.

I stopped the campaign now guys. Went and bought myself a really nice clickbank ready product site :)

I spent $500 in Adwords and got no sales. Adwords doesn't compensate for poor landing pages or shitty PLRs.

find out how to lower your bids, as autumn said there is a few good guides here to show you how to do it

here, to make it simple

when your outgo exceeds your intake, then your upkeep will be your downfall

but it is smart to test the waters, see what works and what doesn't work
just dont broke in the process

Yes, to much per click for to little return per sale.

But the biggest problem is that ctr; it's HORRIBLE.
If you are getting 5k impressions and that low of a ctr then your keywords are way to general. Short version. Did the clicks come from a single keyword(phrase); if so, then just use that one and damn the impressions.
And follow NapsteR's advice in ad wording.
Do those two things and you'll see an insane increase in conversions.

Before start study about adwords. there are tons of ways to reduce cpc. CB products on adwords may risk your account from getting ban. Be careful
