New to content writing - questions

Hi. A few weeks ago I stumbled across this site and fell in love. I've been reading lots of posts and attempting to familiarize myself with some of the lingo and methods on here. Although I would eventually like to expand in to other areas so far I'm currently only making money from sharing putlocker links (roughly $3.50/day) and I thought a good stepping stone would be to start doing some content writing, even if it's only for awhile to build up some funds for other things.


Today I started signing up for various mills (textbroker, valley direct, hubpages, yahoo contributor network, and squidoo so far) and I'm wondering if there are any other good ones to check out? I think out of the bunch I signed up for so far I'll probably only use textbroker & valley direct should I be accepted, the others seem too unreliable for making money.

What do those of you with experience think about it? I really have no idea what the standards are like with this, so any input is appreciated.

Have you tried writing for others? It might help out enormously when you start out

My suggestion is to go here and other SEO forums and just promote your service in the BST section. You obviously have basic English skills so finding work will be simple, just make a thread, set a rate and start writing... your inbox will fill up in no time. Be warned though man, this isnt the super easy way to make money that people say it is... clients suck, the subject material usually sucks... but ive been doing it for years and it pays the bills.

imo content mills are a complete waste of time... Demand Studios, Internet Brands and a few others may be the exception but everywhere else pays next to nothing or does rev share (which is next to nothing) Since you can type fluent English you'll be offering a better service than 75% of the content writers out there are anyway... just put out your shingle and start writing. Get some sample articles together, maybe offer some free review articles, just keep writing and take a couple days a month to find new clients... you'll make money.

Hi,
I think the best method to make some cash with articles is to completely rephrase/rewrite existing articles with programs witch allow you to transcribe what you read out loud.
And then submitting your rewritten articles to some directories. On average you can expect to get paid from 3 to 5$ for a decent article.

I've been using TBH to spin articles but I can say spining articles are not the best way to forward. If your client is smart he would get to know its spun stuff. There is nothing better than writing original content to start your portfolio.
Hard labor put in the beginning definitely pays in the long run.

Something I use when I am writing is to put my own personal spin on it. Try to relate to the subject matter that your writing about so the task doesn't seem so tedious. Also, find other articles and pick up on their styles of writing and after awhile you will start to develop your own style.

Can you find a place to write articles on any subject? Or, do the articles usually center around the same topic?

It wouldn't be horrible to get into this. I have a degree English/Creative Writing. However, I didn't write in years (3 to be exact).

I have to start somewhere again.

...make sure to get your own website to show some example articles and to present yourself. You are competing in a very money sensitive field. There are people not willing to pay you more than a few cent but there are some that are willing to pay much much more.

Think big and out of the box, there are people that need ads written, there are people that needs reviews and opinions, there are people that need business plans written etc... just saying dont rely only on freelance places and cheap articles for SEO there is a big market for writers outside the SEO world.

There is a masterlist in here somewhere, check out that list and try to keep a spreadsheet of all your usernames / passwords. Sites that give you full credit, post them as samples while creating your own content creation service.
