wtf? Added content to website and lost ranking!!

So my site was no.1 for two particular keywords for several months now and drops to no.2 for a couple of days here and there. Well i just added new content and immediately fell to no.4 for one of my keywords but still no.1 for the second keyword.

Added new content to 3 other websites and all suddenly lost ranking too. Whats going on?

This is original and unique content btw.

Are you talking about your home page or inner page that was ranking? if it's homepage that's because your new content has changed the content of homepage (ie pushed a post back to 2nd page or changed the keywords on your home page somehow). Just keep linking/doing whatever that worked, it will come back.

maybe the new content has too many keywords in it (stuffing) or it triggers G to visit your site and re-index the page based on a newer ruleset... Sometimes it helps to create some backlinks to the inner page (the article) directly

As I have always said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I never touch a couple sites I have on page one and they stay right there, one has been number one for about a year. and I never put anything new on it. It makes about $400 a month from adsense and the only thing I do is check the stats from time to time.

I'm afraid to change anything for fear of jinxing it.

There you go then, Google is checking out your site and re-evaluating because of the new content!

With content you have to keep it ongoing, not just chuck up a few pages every few month

You should get those serps back though but keep link building and use varied anchor text

I got it too, but all I did is add another cpa offer - it went from #1 to #38, it's at #33 this morning, so who knows. (Of course I've removed the offer and added some backlinks). They may have a script that detects changes on high spot ranking pages and follow up with a manual check?

Content lockers can definitely affect the serps, or it might be a dance.

Well just dropped to no.4 for my second keyword now so both keywords gone from no.1 to no.4. This site had already made me $600 this month before the drop in ranking and thinking of removing the articles and set it back to how it was before the drop?

Use your common sense here. I post that i added unique content a few days ago and lost ranking and seeking 'experienced advice' not some idiot telling me solution is to do what created the problem.

EG, Hey, i accidentally shot myself in the foot! So what's the solution? Reload and shot myself again???
