WTF? 13 Backlinks created turn into 580!

Probably they showed in recent posts/read also/read more about/category page/tag cloud.
You cant see them, as they are not new anymore - but they are cached by Yahoo crawlers. Within few weeks they will be gone.

Okay, but why do they increase every day? Just went to 590.

Because yahoo spider saw them once. That happen to me too before. In couple of weeks they will be gone.

Best

Crawler could add them to database, but as we all know - indexed backlinks vs crawled backlinks is completely different story.

Yahoo is working really odd, just wait for it :)

It's now at 749, so I don't know about that recent comments thing.. Only explanation I have is that Yahoo doesn't add the backlinks found instantly to YSE, but over time..

just a recent comment thing, it may drop from the sidebar but YSE still have them in database. easy to test it out. build 1 link to a 2nd website and count the links in YSE you will see the trend. Nothing new.

That doesn't explain why they increase day by day.

Why don't you just look at all your backlinks and see what site is causing it?

This happened to me on 2 different sites now I have tons of backlinks on them.

if the site is huge on which u created backlinks, then it happens, like they have lots of servers, and

the domains goes as www1 and www2 and so on.
imho.

ExtraWinner was spot on as usual.

You commented on a blog that had a sidebar widget that showed recent comments. Since its on the sidebar it was a sitewide link for a few days.

The Yahoo bots crawled the pages when your link was on the sidebar and as they process more of the links your backlink count is rising. Over the course of a week or two though your links will begin to decrease.

That's what most people said, but he doesn't believe it.

At least one site probably has a "recent comments" widget in the sidebar. When YSE spidered the domain, it found that recent comment on every somge page. You have probably since been bumped off the recent comments but YSE is slow to spider again (or probably just slow to update YSE). I've seen it happen a few times.
