Hostgator upload site correct?

How do I know if I have uploaded my site files to Hostgator correctly?


This is a very basic site with art files and index.html file and a default file
Should they all be in the www directory file with cgi bin under that?

well navigate to that file with your browser.

if its on public_html folder then the url is the one you registered with

I guess if I just click browse tab after upload in HG its OK and wait for propogation although I redirected nameservers days ago

HostGator uses cPanel and in case of cPanel your website needs to be inside the public_html folder. Just transfer index.html and the whole structure to public_html and it will work. Dont worry about cgibin as you are not using cgi files.

My website shows but it is not displaying properly

I went to W3 validation and 19 errors show
THis background sort of one for instance

How do I correct this please?
Do I remove the < P > element?

ITs weird to me
I have the site files on desktop and when click index.html it displays OK in Firefox
but uploaded to Hostgator its not displaying filler background

I have been working on it and fixed it

Does the Hostgator page show when nameservers have been successfully transferred?
As Iwant to add a second website now

How do I know where to upload site files when I add an addon domain in Hostgator so I do not mess up my main site domain and files?
