How wrong is this :S? Extremely High PR Link

The University I Attend has a PR of 9, and we are allowed to create directories under our username.

We can upload things to it, and edit HTML and such.

Would it be pretty bad to for instance post an article onto that site with the backlink pointing toward my site?

Anyone have any experience with this?

I think that's a good idea, but could raise some eyebrows.

Some people are just gonna give them to you for free. Just build a nice blog, let them see it and tell them you can upload it to their accounts and give them a fast training into how to update it. And voila!

OK Thanks for the advice guys :)

I found an install wordpress tutorial on our tech site but it's fairly complicated and the whole tutorial is based around installing MySql, PhpMyAdmin and such via the command line. :S GG
 
Ya thats bad ass. Few things to consider though, are the directories crawlable? Check that the robots.txt file doesn't disallow access to those directories.

Also look up examples to see if they are indeed indexed. It would suck to potentially lose your ability when in the long run it wasn't even worth it.
 
Lol this is a funny thread! BTW wats the highest PR you guys have posted to? Did it stick? Anchored? etc..
 
If only I had access to a .edu domains... even though I'm studying our university only has a .de domain, so no chance to gain anything through this

It doesn't really matters. Most of universities' domains have trustable, good quality incoming links. If it's a .edu or a .de, it's not a big difference.
 
This is 100% correct... its not wrong whatsoever... hell I buy a ton of links from you, just pm me with your price.

Very interesting, it's your decision to make--I'd think about it some more.
 
It's not wrong IMHO, however it won't do you much good. Google values only the PR from the very page you leave a link on. And that won't be PR9. Hell, it might not be PR0. So even leaving a slew of links won't in fact count for much. Sorry to burst your bubble. What's worse Google's Matt Cutts has publicly stated .edu's are not valued any higher than regular commercial sites.

I have a besty pal who has a allowed me to leave a backlink on his ******** PR9 site. Not only that, it's a sitewide link, so it links to all pages on his site on a permanent text widget. Now THAT has helped me a whole bunch. Google doesn't seem to mind. It sees it as a comment link. I'm trying to convince him to sell these links, but I don't know. Not that keen. Still trying. N E way, hope that clears the air somewhat.
