Hello all,

Couple quick questions.

I have a domain name that I'd like to do a permanent redirect to another domain name. The reason for this is because I've done some SEO through Secondeye amongst others on the domain name - but I'd rather now use a different domain.

If I do the permanent redirect, will this still carry on the SEO? And if so, will this penalize the domain by using a permanent redirect?

Lastly - does anyone have any kind of suggestions or ideas for getting on dmoz.org? I've attempted a few times on a couple different domains but I never get a link and of course, no response is received either.

Thank you all!

A 301 re-direct is what you are talking about. You need to re-direct the whole site if you have changed the technology (html to php). If you have changed only some pages then no re-direct is required. However a page to page re-direct is required if a large number of pages have been made.

Hello all,

Thank you all!

Yes it should carry most of it over. Although its not 100 % guaranteed to carry all PR over, does most of the time though.

It wont penalise either domain, however over time the redirected domain will removed from the serps, as you are telling google for all instances and purposes that domain should no longer appear as its moved; thats the point of 301.
