Fake return address or no address?

So I have been selling stuff on ebay and I don't feel comfortable using my real address as the return address. The items that I ship I don't mind loosing but today is the first time someone contacted me and said they called up the post office to cancel the shipment because it was going to his wrong place, he said it was getting sent back to me. So I have shipped out 30+ items using this address and If I go back in to drop something off will they say you are using a fake address or what? What will they do if there is no address at that location?

So, is it worth even using a return address, I am printing off labels from paypal and you have to enter something.

best to use the address of a friend or family member. that package is likely lost now since it won't get returned to you and won't reach the buyer. i hope it was not too valuable.

It is literally like 50 cents lol, but I don't want it returned to anyone that I know or have any one calling up my family if there is a problem with something.

Open up a po box and add a business name to that po box. So you can receive your returns in your business name.

I agree. I used to use a PO box. It was still my name but at least they wouldn't know my street address.

You don't need to be a business to get a PO box. Back in the day everyone had them instead of local delivery mail in my town.

Get a po box under a fake name,all you need is a student id and a utility bill to get one. Those are both super easy to fake compared to real government id's.

Put your return address as a neighbor or an old address. Submit an address change form to USPS and the mail will be forwarded to you at your real address only when the name matches yours.

You do not need a tax id.

It's best to use a PO BOX. You can get one for $20+ for 6 months. Why go through all the hassles there thinking about real address or fake address. And what are you shipping out that you can't use your real address?

Yeah I agree. I bought a PO box and it was easy. If your selling on ebay ultimately the money has to get to you so some way some how everything could be traced back to the real you right? If your whole ebay acct is faked then just use fake address.

When you have a problem like this just explain the PO sucks in your area and always sends back your packages or loses them and you've been dealing with this for years. etc.
