I believe pinging will let Google crawl the pages faster. Pinging like 5-10k links at one time is a no no but something like this, 19 links, G probably won't notice.

I however never ping my links and just let G crawl them naturally, or I just let someone else ping them for me who made a backlink on the site.

Let us know when you find an easy way to mass-check a list of blogs for do-follow/nofollow...

Do you go and individually check every one of the thousands of sites you scrape to find out if it is do follow? Obviously not. 90% of them are probably nofollow so it is pointless. It's like Nike... "Just blast it".
