Hey Blackhatz!
I Have a client who has asked us if we could bump a rival Google listing down the "7 slot" first page rankings.

I've read somewhere on BHW that if you put up too many positive reviews about a company in a short space of time Google would penalize the listing for being spammy.

I've got around a 1000 verified google accounts and if i was to post up say 50 a day to the listing (the listing is just for a small florist shop!!) over the space of a couple of days then do you think it would get penalized?

ANy one had any experience of this?

Tell your client you can bump them up, instead of bumping their competitor down. Gotta think about your BH karma :)

Just because a client wants you to do something, doesn't mean you should. Use your powers for good... not evil.

Plus, you must understand that in your relations with your customers, they must respect YOU. They may want whatever they like, it 's your business to decide what 's best and make it happen (you are the coach, the master, the guru, the GOD HIMSELF).

When a patient goes to a doctor, he doesn't say, I want to make a surgery. The doctor makes the examination, decides and enforces the correct course of action (and gets payed well for delivering good results ;))

Respect is of utmost importance in offline.

you need to increase the website on and offsite seo. then the places will bump up..
also backlink the places listings

I have to agree with kez1000 you need to do a bit more SEO work and charge your customer some more mula, keep in mind that if you do something bad its going to come back and bite you in the but, sooner or latter they will figure out that you did that to sabotage their listing and will start getting revenge and could lead to nothing but headaches.
Good luck

the only thing your going to be able to do is bump up the clients position. do not send 50 reviews per day or google could see that as spam. I would do 50 per month, in two months thats more than enough to overtake any competitor in google places

thanks for the input guyz.

yea it was more of a speculative question from my client. Nothing more.
I think he's pissed off with one of his competitors.

His google places ranking is above his competitors but he just wanted to know if it was possible to get his competitions places listing completely wiped off!!!

ouch lol :-{)

And besides you could put up 100s of positive comments and google might not do anything and now they are the king of places, best to put up 5 or 6 negative reviews max, then focus on boosting your clients' listings
