I've used a pc my entire life for everything. I've thought about switching over to a mac book pro just because. Any thoughts on a mac? I would run parallels in order to run windows programs.

I've had one for about 3 years. Still can't do shit on it other than watch movies and edit pictures.

I have a mac book pro, but i use my PC more...i think iv used my MPro maybe 6 times in the last year i had it just sitting here collecting dust looking sexy thou, i actually might box mines up just because you reminded me i own one.

Buy one if you go to college and want to look 'cool'.. if not... stick to a nice PC.

mac PRO's are nice.
I just prefer a windows machine that costs half as much and its alot more powerful.
No beef its just i run powerful tools that mac may not be able to handle

Mac pros are amazing for doing editing, designing and all overall web development you could ever want. Coda is the best software for creating websites and although that one costs around $100, the other good tools are free. I got one for my university and I really recommend one. Don't really use my PC anymore.

If you're already a Mac or Unix user then MBP is the best laptop on the planet. Great design and build quality and OS X is the best Unix desktop OS you can get. However if you're a Windows luser I don't see the point, you can get a non-Mac computer with better specs for a lot less money.

I like my MBP way more than my PC. It's much more user-friendly and doesn't have even a fraction of the problems that Windows gets. A lot of people bring up the issue of not being able to run many IM tools on a Mac, but that's easily solved by using Parallels or just installing Windows on the Mac with Bootcamp.
Plus since I outsource almost everything anyways, I don't even use tools myself anymore. I just have my VAs do it for me.
At the end of the day, it's all a matter of preference. You can't say one is "better" then the other. I prefer my MBP, but some people like PCs better.
If you're unsure, go to the Apple store and play around with one for a little while to see if you like it.

My Macbook Pro is the best thing I've ever bought. No problems At All, vs. shaaat PC's that would start having bugs after 6 months and ultimately implode with a year of purchase. I surprised to hear so many people on here bad mouth them....

I take it you mean Anti-virus?
If so then its because most people dont pay attention to protecting they're PC.
When you have some solid antivirus and anti malware then the PC goes like clockwork.
I still have my old IBM desktop from 2003 which still works 8 years on so dont say PC's are crap

Windows PCs have two advantages: you can do some cool stuff on them because of the range of software available, and they're cheap.
The bottom line is that Windows is a terribly designed OS from a technical standpoint and that's why there are all the problems. Yes, you might be able to maintain a good machine if you run 3 different antivirus apps in the background constantly and reformat regularly, but you shouldn't have to take those precautions. You shouldn't have to reformat unless you want to for some reason.
The file system on a decent OS doesn't degrade randomly over time and there shouldn't be a registry that can get corrupted; random browser exploits shouldn't be able to silently escalate to root; the browser shouldn't be shipped as part of the kernel FFS!
The reason that most people are more efficient on Windows is because that's what they know. If you spend some time kicking around on different OSs and desktop paradigms, you'll start to find Windows quite maddeningly inefficient from the perspective of desktop design too.
However if you spend most of your time working in Windows-only apps then it makes sense to use a Windows platform. You use the best tool for each particular job.
