I'm hearing more and more about people getting 'busted'.

What are you guys doing for free movie/music cures?

Yikes, I just downloaded a few movies this morning.

Usually it's pretty easy to spot the torrents which have been flagged.
People usually comment saying they got a warning letter or something but I guess
that wouldn't help if you were downloading a movie that had just come out.

I use Netflix for movies and torrent anything that I can't watch instantly.
Spotify or Grooveshark for music if you don't mind listening online.

Few days ago I wanted to download a torrent file from TPB and in discussion below was a few people complaining about some threatning letter they received shrotly after downloading that dorrent data.
So I think is possible some authorities are focusing on torrentz. Also many trackers are down.

Get some VPS from europe, for example or a seedbox. Dl the torrents there and use ftp for your computer.

people recieving warning letter for torrenting thats pretty serious.

Use http://www.peerblock.com/ guys, it will be harder to track you down.

Like someone said above, if you're on Windows use a program called PeerBlock, encrypt all traffic, and try to avoid seeding. By doing those you drastically remove your footprint from downloading torrents, but believe me if they want to find you they will. There is always a footprint.

If you're on a Mac then download from your neighbor's wifi :D

Always had the ideia that the real danger is in seeding for long periods of time, sure while we download we are seeding also but a lot less.

Well let's face it, torrents and overall warez and stuff is killing a lot of industries, they where bound to fight back hard eventually.

So what if you live in a country where there are absolutely no laws about internet copyright materials lol. I'm from Macedonia (south-eastern europe), and I'm downloading 1-2 movies every single day. Haven't received any kind of a letter or such.

Well, in such a case don't be in the top 10 seeders of your country. Once such a law will be made they will need someone to punish. :-)

Screw the public stuff, get in with a large group in the hub area..bcdc++ is all I will say

This is the harsh reality... Hope that nobody in BHW will be busted...:croc:

You guys should try an app called Gygan. (.com) Great file sharing app. I guarantee you won't ever use torrents again.

Gygan uses Usenet so its really fast.

Where is the catch? The guys have an affiliate section, so obviously they intend to make money this way or another. Can you elaborate on 'this way or another'? :-)

@lancis

Well the catch is you have limited amount of bandwidth to play with. Bandwidth costs money just like any Usenet provider.

The problem with torrents is that when you download your computer is uploading/sharing at the same time which is illegal. You're much safer if you're just downloading. So apps like Gygan are must safer.

i showed a friend of mine how to download torrents, a couple months later he got a letter from his service provider telling him to quit. Always got to be careful read the comments first and don't download anything new.. have patience.

German friend got a letter after the downloaded a PC game and he had to pay 700Euro <= Germany.
Whereas here in Vietnam they have everywhere shops selling thousands of copies of the newest movies, pc games, adobe applications,.. :)
