Ranked number one on google, but still not getting much traffic

Hi, I have been a long time reader of blackhat but this is one of my first posts.
So heres my problem, I have been working day and night on three sites with long tail keywords and have gotten one of them to be ranked number one two and three on google but i am still not getting much traffic. What are some things i could do to increase traffic?
 
Advertise on BHW
target a different keyword
write enticing meta descriptions to get users to click your link
 
Are people searching the keyword you're ranked 1st for? Use the Google Keyword Tool to get a general idea of how many searches are happening. And then find some related keywords and target those.

very well said. you must put yourself in the searchers shoes to try and determine exactly what they are looking for. this is not just spamming, it is also marketing.
 
thank you everyone. I can write quality content all day, i just kinda get lost with SEO. Is there any good links to some preemo threads ya'll have read? i definitely need to get my knowledge up...

Hello; What your sites and I could check them out and help if possible.
 
use catchy words in title or meta description and u'll get 60% of the clicks
 
Instead of using adwords keyword tool, I would rather use Google Trends, just in order to find out if there are any searches.
For example, I have a site... exact match domain who is suposed to have 2000 exact searches on Google/month
Guess what? Google Trends shows about 50% less in the past months. The point is that you may have done the good thing, but this doesn't mean that for the moments, there are any searches.
 
exact searches on Google/month is very important... from it you can calculate your traffic
 
thanks for all the information everybody. like i said its easy for me to make some great articles and content i just start to get confused when it gets to SEO.
 
You can't really trust the Google Adwords tool for decent info.
 
If it's a product then get the video up on YT, also for the same keywords so that you occupy all the top 4 positions and then people can also see the benefits of your product right there in Google itself (or the aff product you're targeting). Try to write at least 1 benefit in the description.

It sounds like you didn't do your keyword research properly. When you're using Google's free keyword tool, uncheck "broad" and check "exact" to see how many people search for the exact phrase that you're targeting each month. Being at number one won't do you much good if only 30 people search for your keyword each month.
 
There are only two possibilities. Either you are not checking the ranking correctly or going after a keyword based on the broad search count.
