When we tell a keyword is low competition?

I am trying to do something in keyword researching.For that i have read many articles about this.Have gathered many things on this but still now having some confusion about saying a keyword is low competition.However i have understood so far........... a low competition keyword must have

1. Under 10k intitle:"keyword" real competitor

2.Average PR under 3 of the first 10 sites

3.No presence 2/3 official big site on the first page like wikipedia, wiki

4.No presence of original product page on the first 2/3 position.

5.Backlink of each different sites of the first 10 need to be under 1k

6.No presence of google shopping result on the front position( still i am confusion about this)

Am I correct(i have told i m still new here)? If No please share your idea as we can learn from you.

OR if you know any more criteria to select a keyword as low competitor please share that with us here.We who will learn something form you will be grateful to you.

Thanks for nice information.I think we can consider a keyword as low competition which has intitle:"keyword" value under 30 k.

All those can "maybe" be taken into consideration, but not always.

The Google shopping results only appear on certain niches, take the insurance niche for example, one of the highest competition niches going - no google shopping checkout thing on the first page at all.

Number of backlinks can be misleading: If I had the choice of backlinks between 1000 nofollow blog comments, or 5 PR 6 ********, authority homepage links. I know what i'd chose.

There's loads of other factors, on page SEO, the price of a click in adwords (high price is usually high competition).

Ranking these days is all about relavancy and not so much the numbers on the front page - the landscape has changed post panda. A large number of the accepted methods are in the main obsolete in todays serps and looking at competition now involves just how relevant the first 1-5 positions are for your particular keyword choice.

The trick is now understanding how G looks at relevancy and what are the key factors which it uses to assess it....

1. H1, H2 Tag
2. Meta Title, description
3. on page SEO - alt tags, density, kw in first and last paragraph, links out to authority sites, internal linking etc
4. The biggie - incoming links with the specific anchor text of the keyword (I see this as 75% of the relevancy calculation)

All these coming together for a specific keyword tell G that a page is categorically about a certain phrase - remember, they prefer one page to be targeted about one keyterm, sure you can input several related terms but if your writing (or your outsourcers) is good they will be included anyway.

Therefore, looking at the top 1-5 positions and understanding the above is your real level of competition today, not competing pages, its all about relevancy both in terms of onpage and offpage SEO.

If you get the relevancy spot on and create good quality long (800+ words) content and backlink in a relevant way you will see results.

Naaaa.... thats all crap. No doubt you picked that up in some over priced WSOs.

The true indication of the market place is in the competition level of the top 10 results, not result volume or presence of a certain domain.

No problem. Yes, use the keyword within the H2 tag as well - to make it look better for users incorporate other words around it so if your keyword was bread and butter you could do;

H2 - Ingridients used in our beautiful bread and butter pudding -/H2

EDIT - I just re-read your reply - are you targeting 2 keyterms or more on the same page? That is not the way to play this in todays climate - you need to target one key term per page and backlink for that keyterm and a few variations (but meaning the same). Targeting multiple key terms will come organically as your well written article will already have them but in terms of the backlinks you want to be concentrating on your primary keyword.

Yes, they need to be displayed in descending order on the page preferably 1,2,3 etc

Thanks....... i am searching some keywords and already got around 3 keywords.All are exact match .net domain but pr of the first 10 sites are high.I will post a thread about asking some suggestion based on these with picture.Hope to get a answer from you to there.You genius.
