Which VM (Virtual Machine) is best for IM programs?

I bought a new PC. An i7 Dell. I'm a Mac convert so I really never had to deal with viruses. So I am thinking it might be advantageous to run things like ViperSEO or ScrapeBox in a sandbox on the PC.

What would you recommend to use?

And what version of Windows? XP?

Mac? I recommend VMWare Fusion, I heard it's great.

Otherwise give VirtualBox a go - they both have "desktop integration" which means you can see the program inside the VM like it is on your desktop.

I used VMware when I had a Mac. It was good but slow. But I really don't know if that was because of VMware, my Mac (4 years old!) or just the nature of running virtual machines.

I use Paralells. It's fast and integrates on the Mac OS easly. Never had a problem.

BTW, VMware is MUCH better than Parallels on a Mac. Parallels does all sorts of shady stuff to run on a Mac.

Ohhh, sorry. I thought you meant "mac convert" as in switching TO Mac.

For Windows I recommend VirtualBox 100%. If you have issues, try VMWare Workstation - but VirtualBox is free and their new versions are fantastic! I have an i7 with a 6990 + 16GB RAM and can I run multiple environments for testing my scripts quite easily with VirtualBox.

I'd say virtualbox as well. And for OS do you mean on the vb? If so, I'd suggest XP.

Another vote for VirtualBox, although I use it on a Linux host to run both Windows + other Linux VMs

I was going to add that you should load up on RAM for your machine. More RAM will do wonders for the speed of your VMs than a faster CPU if you are already in the i7 family.

Another vote for VirtualBox here.

My 9-5 uses a lot of VM tech and a lot of Macs. My testing on Macs showed VirtualBox to be faster than Parallels in the past, so it's my choice for a VM on a Mac. On a PC, VMware Workstation was my product of choice for years, but VirtualBox has gotten so good that it's probably the better choice as it's free and it saves the hassle and worry of downloading cracks if you're not going to actually buy VMware Workstation.

An i7 will have no problems with anything you throw at it, there's various chip level technologies now that help with VMs that were missing from processors even just a year or two ago. Sadly mine is one of them...

You can download windows from torrent for example in image.

I have used VMware, if you need use some kind of usb devices with the machines virtualbox is just too much pain in the ass.

Also if you have up to date anti virus and some brain you won't be getting any more viruses with PC than with Mac

I am using windows 7 and venomSeo running flawlessly on my OS.
