WTF with .Info domain

Last year i had brought few .info domain and this month from those two will be expired.I didn't do anything with those two domain. but one is EMD with high search volume. So i want to renew 1 domain with .info. But today when i go to renew the .info i see godaddy $9.17 for that. WTF. I was thinking .info will always be $1.17....... for first time and also for next time.
Guy's do you know any coupon that can reduce that.

Godaddy has a cheap purchase price for the .info domains then when you want to renew they slap you. On this website you can find Godaddy coupons but no idea if they will help you get down the price http://livecodes.blogspot.com/

I use Name.com for .info domains they charge 3.99 only at purchase and renewal - much better then GoDaddy and if you use the coupon FREEWHOIS you get free privacy at name.com for the first year.

Info as run by Afilias Limited and they have been the most expensive of the TLDs and announced a price increase in November of 2010. They cost your host $7.42 a year for renewals. Moral of this story is that going forward I will avoid ..info domains!

jason2009 , if that domain has high search volume as you say. Then why such an issue with paying $9?

anyways godaddy has always been like that for info it's cheap the first year and then regular price the next moving forward.

well, it would cost you less than $30 to renew them, If those stats are correct. I don't see why you cant monetize at the least $30 a month.

About the domain, if you plan to make the site (right now) just renew it and work for it, it seems a profitable niche.

Godaddy is outrageous in this respect. They caught me in the same trap with an .info domain.

I'm planning to transfer it before the next renewal is due. Namecheap does .infos for $2.99 per year, inc a years free privacy.

Thanks guys for your opinion, i made my decision. I will not renew this domain. i will never buy a .info

you can always transfer to another registrar. MANY registrars offer cheap deals on new regs and transfers for .info domains
