Is it google wave or bomb?

in my one competitive keywords, i was on 11. position one month ago.suddenly it went down to 6th and 7th page and sometimes 5th, dancing for 1 month.I have read some advices in the forum to keep on building links and i did it.I built some more links for that keyword to my main index page.And now I have went down to 12th page(6-7 more pages back).
Could it be a penalty like -60? and when i keep on building links , one more -60 penalty? or could it be something different?
By the way I am not sandboxed. My indexes are still shown when i search site:mysite.com on google.
And if it is a penalty how long will it take ? what should i do ?

2. If it were a -60 penalty then you'd be sitting on page 6, wouldn't you?
3. See #2, but even if #2 was true then I don't think you could have multiple -60 penalties on top of each other...

It varies every time and depends on a lot of factors. So the most accurate answer here would be "test and find out for yourself", as your case is pretty much always different than any other case.

It can be one of 2 things:

1. Either you are building spammy links such as: forum profiles, low pr blog posts with high outbound links, too many low-pr articles that are poorly spun with AMR.

OR

2. You are not varying your anchor text enough.

After panda, 1 and 2 above is the main reason why people loose ranking unless they got a manual review. But then you would be "manually" sandboxed to page 500. What you are describing is an automatic penalty that started to appear after the panda update.

To get out of it, you should do 2 things.

1. Vary your anchor link. Instead of having "cheap cars", have "cars that are cheap" etc

2. Diversify your link-building and try to do manual high pr blog commenting on moderated blogs.

If you follow these, I can almost guarantee that you will regain your ranking within 2 weeks.
