Good Indicator that Re-Index has happened?

I've got a 6-year old site with 2700+ backlinks. I'm seeing Title and Meta Description updates appear on Google within 12 hours typically. I'm seeing new pages appear in 3-6 days.

On a page where the title didn't have any keywords, then I changed it to have the keywords, I see the title update but the rank doesn't change, nor has the page preview changed (as I changed the page content a little also).

What I want to determine is, did Google Re-index it and the changes just didn't cause a rank change or has Google not re-indexed it yet? What's the indicator to look for that it has been re-indexed so you can see if your changes just didn't make any rank change?

I thought the "dance" was a thing of the past and Google is constantly re-indexing instead of doing it every couple of weeks?

More interestingly, why doesn't a page re-index instantly once it is re-crawled? What is Google doing to take more time to re-index after the crawl? I would think the rank is always determined in real-time when the search is performed. Or is the re-index actually happening when you see the Title update, it's just that it's rank didn't change?

Your rank simply not change. Ranks do not always change in a matter of hours. It can take days to weeks to change. Changing the title and adding or modifying content will not trigger a rank change if Google determines that it was some minor editing.

Secondly, google will index it depending on how often it comes to your website. Huge forums get threads indexed in minutes while others take hours.
