xxxandroidxxx.com domain asking for trouble?

Hi,

I bought this domain because someone recommended it to me from keyword research, but I am not sure if I am asking for trouble since android is a trademark. They told me its only an issue if the domain is an exact match of a trademark and I have seen loads of other blogs and forums that have android in their domain name.
Does anyone here know for sure if I should carry on with this blog?

I think the advice you got about it only being an issue on an exact match was too brief and is therefore inaccurate. Trademarks in names are pretty complex. That said, yes there are a lot of sites with that word in them, and as long as the site on your name isn't in general violation of goog's tos or philosophy, I think you'll be okay. They don't have quite the history like disney, apple, or a few others do of flipping out if someone dares to breathe one of their trademarked words.

From android site terms of service:

9.2 Unless you have agreed otherwise in writing with Google, nothing in the Terms gives you a right to use any of Google's trade names, trade marks, service marks, logos, domain names, and other distinctive brand features.

But I'd move forward with your blog plans if I were you. The worst thing that could probably happen is that you receive a cease and desist letter and you switch everything to a different domain.

I don't think Google's going to bother you about it though since your blog will probably only complement the brand.

i have a blog ranking on first page with the keyword android in the domain....still haven't received any C&D's yet though and it's been up for about a year now..
