Hey guys,

I am planning on ranking my clients for a lot of highly competitive keywords.
I know that deeper research on competition is a necessity. I have noticed that for a lot of competition sites there is no way that there are only that many backlinks (Checked with Traffic Travis, SEO Book and Market Samauri)...

Are there any "underground" keyword tools that tell all about competitions backlinks..

Is there a thread that anybody can refer to me?

Can we get some more answers on this, I would like to know too :D

You can use Word Tracker Link Builder, it's based on Majestic Seo data base.

SpyGlass Suite is a great set of kit but there is a six monthly maintenance fee associated with it (I *think* that it's around $99), just something to be aware of.

Cheers

Yes SEO Spyglass is great just watch out for the hidden costs, or check the download section here on the forum ;-)

OSE by seomoz is by far the best backlink checking tool.

Seomoz uses it?s own metrics to determine the quality of a link such as:

Page Authority
Moz Rank which is comparable to pagerank
Moz Trust
Domain Authority
Domain Moz Rank
Domain Moz Trust

Go to opensiteexplorer.com and simply type in your competitors URL and after a few seconds they will display all of your competitors links in order of quality which are determined by the above metrics. The only drawback is that the tool costs $99 per month.

As you are a pretty young girl and a BHW member I would be more than happy to send you an excel of your competitors links from OSE.

I currently use OSE and Majestic SEO. Obviously both have strengths and weaknesses. OSE does a good job filtering but it only updates every 4 months or so. Majestic SEO updates more often and indexes way more links but the reports it produces often have so many dead links that they are essentially unusable (although in fairness it should be said that Majestic comes with a variety of filters that I haven't really learned how to use).
