Get HUGE traffic from Google Images! NOOB FRIENDLY!!!

Google images is a HUGE source of traffic that many people forget when doing SEO. I myself did for quite sometime!
So I did a case study using a random domain name , A blank website and 1 picture of a running banana!
Month 1 I only received 284 Visitors from Google Images
Month 2 I gained 1917 Visitors from Google images
Month 3(Last Month) I gained 5874 Visitors from Google images

Here is the simple method to drive tons of traffic!
Usually when you upload pictures to your website, The pictures look like this:
top-right-image.jpg
bottom-left-image.png

or something like that...

You NEED to change the names of your images! Simple as that!

Use the google keywords tool(or whichever tool you use to estimate traffic) and do an EXACT search for certain keywords pertaining to your website!

For Example:
I am going to use a movie site since I have seen quite a few threads talking about movie and tv sites)
Say your movie site is about "Watching The Hangover 2"
And 1 of your images is titled
Hangover-2-big-poster.png

Check for low competition and high traffic with your google keywords tool for keywords pertaining to The Hangover 2.
Then use the best result
WatchHangOver2Online.png

I am tired as fuck right now, so I didn't actually search if that was the top rated keyword for that niche but I can almost promise you that more people search for Watch HangOver 2 Online than Hangover 2 big poster!

Make sense?

If this still doesn't make any sense to you. The reason for doing this is because if you name your images popular keywords, then when people search for those popular keywords, your images will pop up on google images or even the front page google itself which will in turn lead back to your website!!!!

Next step:
Use "alt" tags!
If you don't know what an alt tag is, an alt tag is a piece of code written with the image source itself! If you don't know how to write and alt tag, just google "what is an alt tag" and it will give you the piece of code you need and where to upload it!
What is the point of it?
From my understanding it is for certain browsers that don't open certain image files and also for the seeing impaired!
So if you have a picture of a sunset, some browsers and people who are seeing impaired wouldn't see the image, but would see an alt tag saying "sunset picture"...This is so they can have an idea of what is going on within the website!
THIS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT because as we all know, robots which scan through your images cant visually see the image.
As it was explained to me some time ago. Google itself is seeing impaired!

So you would want to use keywords again here!
Back to the Hangover 2 example!
Make your alt tag similar to the image name!
"Watch The Hangover 2 Online"

This will help your SEO with images and traffic from google images!

Now from understanding all of this, and seeing how google can't visually see the image, you can black hat this as much as you want!
If you have a picture of a sunset, and want the keyword to say "Watch the hangover 2 online"...go for it!
Be Creative, Get More Traffic, Make More Money!

I would like to add something to this. If you have a static HTML/PHP site, then you can take the OP's tip to next level.

On each HTML page, rename each and every page to contain your keyword. This would require you to upload images multiple times, but would definitely help SERPs.

For the case study, I didn't monetize it at all. It was just a simple test I wanted to do!

For all of my other sites, I use CPA and yes google images seems to convert quite well! It brings in a good amount of traffic across multiple websites!

Most websites have multiple images. Start small if you need too.
Find keywords using the google keyword tool and do an EXACT match.
Find keywords with 0 to LOW competition!
And you are sure to start pulling in some google images traffic with the multiple images on your website!!!!

This site has been running since July 4th, and on the Second day I already started to get visitors. 90% of my visitors come from google images, rest from youtube and organic searches

What I did.

1. Find a Popular niche that started to trend on twitter and other Social Media Channels.
2. Create a site with the exact name, even if its with hyphens. For example, my site was called celebrityfirstname-key-word.com
3. Write 4-5 articles with the first article having a 6-15% keyword density. First sentence should start with niche keyword, title should start with niche keyword.
4. Add a picture to the article and in all details and tags use the tailword you are targetting.
5. The rest of the articles should follow the same rules but go down in density with each article and after that just keep posting news that keeps up to date.
6. Add a twitter feed to the blog which shows 20-40 new messages on twitter containing the keyword, refresh on 10-20 mins.

Did not do anything blackhat until the second week where I blasted a few 2.0 sites. My site itself is sitting somewhere in the abyss beyond page 10. But unfortionally the conversions are pretty shitty. 0.75% clicks a day on a good day even with a frame breaker. Still playing around with my ad positions.

The first images where indexed right after google send the first bots to my page, about 12 hours after blog creation, posts and ping requests. The next images took a few days to index and up to a whole week to index upto 12 images. Then I added a gallery page with about 60 images, took a bit longer than a week to index them all, and for some reason a couple of them havn't been indexed yet.

I guess you use images from other website. Then how you avoid the DMCA?

I get a ton of image traffic on some sites, but the conversion rate is near 0.

Ditto, on one of my site I get 300-400 uniques a day from google images and absolutely zero conversion - even after cramming the site with ads. And another of my sites gets half the traffic (from google web results) and makes about 200 pm from adsense.

i guess it depends on the content. I saw good results for a game.. people would find a screenshot of the game in image search, be redirected to my site where they'd be presented with the game waiting to be clicked on (which would trigger a pop under for bonus $$$) and try to convert with a game download.

Obviously converts worse than non-image referrals but if you keep in mind the goal of the visitor (and why he is searching images instead of web pages) you can convert extra visitors at no cost.

The traffic conversion will depend on the niche.If you are selling an actual product it can work well.If you're site is based around ads it doesn't work great.
