A few questions about link building

Let's say you have a blog which gets updated frequently. The articles posted are very well optimized along with the keywords for search engines.

Now the posts will go to page 2 page 3 etc

What URL do you enter when doing link building? the homepage url or the post's url?

Also let's say I create separate pages in WordPress, do I use the page's link?

If you want to link to wordpressinstall.com/page1 you link to that url.
Same with the posts, if you want to link to them to keep serps up on the individual posts then do so.

If you want to promote the main url then do that.
It's entirely up to you, depending on what page or post or main url you want to push.

No, but your inner pages may rank naturally for some terms anyway.

If you want your inner pages to rank for specific keywords then you will have to work on those url/keyword combinations.

Actually it will help it as your overall "trust" rank and PageRank of your domain will go up. That PageRank will then filter down to other posts on your site, so in turn yes building solid backlinks to the homepage will help.

Although to have the best benefits of linkbuilding I highly recommend deep linking as well. That means that you link to the post pages with the anchor text that you wanted to rank those posts for.

For example:

http://example.com (keywords: example)
http://example.com/tree-tshirt (tree tshirt, tree tshirts)
and so on with all of your other pages...

That will send PageRank through your website as well as send optimized anchor text to the individual posts.

You wouldnt get the right answer too on other places.. I am having experience in seo for more than 5 years and i have been in other forums. I visit BHW often and the resource it has made me to join and share my thoughts..

How do you guys build backlinks? I've seen sites with thousands of backlinks, how do they achieve that? Manual building will take ages. What are the tools and the strategies used?

To be honest, I've almost never done SEO before, I focused only on programming and maintaining websites.

Build individual backlinks to every post and of course some random to the main website, it is important that you have backlinks to your all pages so it looks natural for google

It completely depends on you... If you want to promote your inner pages and posts, get backlinks for you posts else for your URLs.

If you have google deep linking structure for your inner web pages, that will influence the overall rankings of your website.

When working with a blog and posting new content I always use for the kw homepage and post link.

You need to do a bit more work but at the end it's worth it. I don't really play that much with pages, posts are better for organizing. only pages i have are privacy policy, contact, home, maybe one or two more depending on the niche
