Has Anyone Tried MailChimp

I was looking for a free alternative to aweber and I came across mailchimp. they have a free version that is as follows:
"With MailChimp's Forever Free plan, you can send 12,000 emails a month to a list of up to 2,000"

Is it really free forever?

looks good but wanted to see if anyone else has used it.

I have used it, not for my own autoresponder, but for clients and they have been very happy with the service.

Why not for my own autoresponder? Because I'm a control freak and trust nobody My autoresponder runs off my web server.

I have used MailChimp for several months for multiple clients. Including my own list. MailChimp has allowed me to design great looking email templates, create quick opt-in forms for pages and side columns and include custom delivery based on subscriber bday and anniversaries.

IMO MailChimp is a great way to start.

Yeah im looking for an aweber alternative too, I got around 24k subscribers so I am comming very close to the 25k price band... Atm I am paying $120 a month.... Have no idea how much the 25k subs are.. It doesn't say on there pricing it just says contact us.

man im already really annoyed with mailchimp compared to aweber. might jsut stay with aweber. chimpmails design interface is wierd and annoying. you cant create single optin forms. i created a form then went to "get webcode" and I had to redesign the whole optin form. pain in the arse

I have been using mailchimp for a several weeks now and it is a great service, but if you have the money go for aweaver which is the best service out there.

Is all about credibility of your business and you don't want to be save money if it will cost you credibility.

- Has incredible number of options and add ons
- Constantly upgrading and adding to system

What's bad about MailChimp:

- User interface is confusing and over complicated (because system does so much)
- Creating mail forms is overly difficult (Aweber is simplest)
- Poor customer service. Email only support.

I have and still do work with both Aweber and MailChimp but taking all into account I prefer Aweber for internet marketers. For an offline business that only needs to setup one or two static forms and that's it, MailChimp is a great choice.

they will dump you in a heart beat if you are a spammer they have a 1% issue. Anything over 1% marked as spam and you are out of there.

I have been using mailchimp for a long time and strongly recommend.

The main benefit is their API. If you can code some basic php then their api is a breeze and gives you great scope. You can subscribe users using single optin and also using your own form - I use gravity forms this way you can stick with multiple free accounts without any mailchimp branding issues.

Also I set up an ip lookup and added a users geographic location to their email records again via the api.

So if you can code I would say that using mailchimp is a no brained....

What he said - the user interface sucks. Basically they have completely mangled the concept of autoresponders - it's really hard to work with.

Also their email template system can mess you up - once you start creating multiple messages with a template, god help you if you have to change it later.

I am really new to auto responders. I was wondering if there a way to set it up where I put my email address in a craigslist ad and then when someone emails me, the autoresponders automatically sends a message a day later or a couple hours later?
