[Journal/Method/spoonfeed] The 'Crashed Challenge' 30 Days to Money...

You all are submitting articles to ezine? I don't think anyone is doing that since March. Go read up "Panda update" or "Farmer update" when you have some extra time.

:( Sounds like submitting to article directories doesn't help with Google anymore.

I can't believe I haven't seen this till now.

But at least it looks liike I can still start it and catch up.

Will do.

Thanks to the OP for all the time and effort put into this so far.

Do Not do the WP-Amazon Update, my site does not work anymore!

But I got lcky, I did a backup:)

edit: best way to fix it is to log on you server via ftp, go to wp-content/plugins/ and delte or rename the folder "wordpress-amazon-associate"

I think this is probably a positive development as far as we're concerned. Basically, the Panda update penalises sites that feature tons of badly-spun / duplicate content and in particular sites which (like Ezinearticles) are awash with tons of blatant advertising. (Yeah, I know advertising is the reason we're doing it, but not at the expense of readability.)

I've always felt very uncomfortable with the "Ezine" approach. I hated the idea of having to churn out gallons of low quality material just to chase backlinks. I'd much rather spend time creating real, informative, readable content.

I only stumbled across Crashed's thread a couple of days ago, but I love the approach he's taking. His focus on Social Interaction rather than bombastic SEO tactics is one I feel much more comfortable with.

To my mind, the Panda update is indicative of the way things are going, and these developments are going to massively favour those of us who adopt the "content rich", "reader-oriented" approach....

As for the guys who hate writing original content from scratch, there's nothing wrong (in my opinion) with taking PLR content or 'spun' articles and just spending 5 minutes giving them a quick cosmetic makeover. Change a few words. Rewrite a couple of paragraphs. Throw in a bit of humour. Stamp your personality on it. It's not that difficult and it needn't take you more than a few minutes to personalise even the most cliched of articles. Your readers will view your site as more 'human' and therefore more worthy of their time, and as a bonus it should get you over any new obstacles Google throws in your path.

As I said, I only discovered Crashed's thread a couple of days ago so I haven't been participating (yet), but I intend to devote some SERIOUS time to it over the next few days and will set up a site so I can follow along and check my results against everyone else's. It is without doubt one of the most inspiring threads I've seen on here.

Completely agree with this. There is a thread on BHW titled UC backlinks (Unique Content backlinks) that talks about doing the typical link wheels BUT all with unique content. It is worth checking out.

Question: what if you have no experience whatsoever when it comes to this stuff? Will this challenge still work for me?

I'm really, really, REALLY tempted to try this because it just looks so simple...I've even researched and picked out a decent host to start with. But at the same time I'm really nervous as I don't want to waste my time or money, even if it is just a few bucks for a host and domain name.

So what's the deal....can a person with no experience in internet marketing (but lots of time and determination) get this to work for them?

jeneias, you have to start somewhere to build experience, and crashed's post is a really good way of dipping your toes in the IM world ;)

I agree, this is as good a place to start as any - it's going well for me so far.

I just wanted to comment. First of all thank you for the teaching. Second, I've noticed you haven't updated your own website since June 26th. Is there any reason for that? Also, I purchased articles from the source mentioned and all seemed to be written by different writers. I would imagine articles written by many different writers would be bad for your site content if its obvious in their writing style, correct?

Hi Jeneias,
I honestly don't think you'll find a better place to start than this. The thread lays out everything you need to get a site up and running in a simple, step by step manner. No special technical skills are required other than the ability to follow instructions, and (hopefully) a bit of imagination.

OK, it's not going to make you a millionaire overnight - nothing will. But it will provide you with a thorough grounding in how to set up a Wordpress blog, drive traffic to it, and start monetizing it.

Where you go from there is up to you.

Hello crashed, despite being a noob in IM, I will start following your guide from Day 1.
Currently I cannot afford a domain or hosting, and if you don't mind, could ya provide with a .info domain/hosting.

Thanks!

Great, that's all I wanted to know. I'm not looking to become a millionaire anyway....a couple bucks wouldn't hurt, but honestly I want the experience first. Good, so I'll get started first thing Monday. Thanks for the comments everyone :)

I'm having some trouble with the theme. It seems that whatever theme I install I can't see the categories.I just installed Flexx theme and now I can only see my first post, not even the title is appearing.Does anyone have some feedback about this?Am I doing something wrong?

Im having a problem with my theme i think, the sidebar has moved all the way down to the bottom of the page on the homepage, but is in the right place on other pages. I think there is a HTML error with the homepage :/ maybe check your html?

Hey crashed,

Me again. I'm on page 1 in Google, #6 on the results within just two days. I've only written 2 articles (on day 3 on your challenge) and they are not even optimized. I better get my new article up because I can see a few people coming to my site from google search, hope it will continue this way till the end of your challenge. Thank you crashed.

Mark
