Hey everyone,

First of all I'm not totally new to the whole SEO thing, but regardless of what I know I'm not getting the results I want. So the problem here is I have no way to measure wither the steps I'm taking is going towards the result I want.

Anyway, how do you guys keep track of where your site is rank on Google, Yahoo, etc... I'm not talking about page rank. I'm talking about the rank position for a particular keyword. Is there a program or service or a way to check?

Hi Sblackhat007,

There are plenty of different methods and software available for this purpose.

Depending on your needs, there are a few different levels:

- Self-interest/personal site - you can use something simple like the seobook firefox plugin called 'rank checker.' Just search the net for some reputable ones and there are a number of them.

- Larger sites/client based reporting - I personally use 'Accurate Monitor for Search Engines' by cleverstat. (One of the better programs professionally used in the Whitehat SEO industry).

- There are a number of blackhat programs that I know will do this as well - I just haven't had much experience with them yet. A search for rank/position checker should yield something. Or perhaps a bhw vet can step in with some advice on that ;)

Main thing to consider - is how many keywords you want to track and how often you want them checked. These two will sum up to your total connection needs and help determine if you need software with apis/proxies.

Hope that helps :)

Cheers!

I use seoscout paid version.
I have about 200 sites listed with them, it works out well.
Negatives: Makes you go check your rankings too often, and you realize how much your sites jump around, which is also annoying.

Rank tracker by the spyglass people. They have a free version you can use, the only difference is you can not save info.

You can also find the whole suite in the download section if you feel inclined to take advantage of it.
