lost my #1 sites

You state that all your backlinks are on directories, that is your problem, OP.

In order to get to and maintain a solid high rank in Google, on must have a complete backlinking infrastructure using a variety of backlinks spread out over time.

Include all the usual suspects when you are backlinking for your sites and if at all possible, also add content to your sites on a regular basis.

So I had several sites get hit as well where they were ranking in top 3 and now to page 2-5 for some, others to page 15 or so, and a few just disappeared, but still indexed. Some start to fall a few spots intially and then a few more each few days until they are gone from page 1 and then just sit somewhere on page 2, while others just take a big dive to page 3 , then page 7 and beyond.

So do you think this is mainly due to the types of backlinks that I have and are being devalued and not content related? I have all unique content though some of these sites have not had new content in months while others had a few months before the drops started to happen.

In your opinion should I just start off backlinking again to these sites while incorporating various types like linkpushes, edu comments, web2.0 profile links, etc. and see what effects it has before moving on to adding more content to site? Or will it also help to at least add a new article to homepage since most of these sites have a static homepage article that matches the EMD keyword?

Also my sites are unique content without change from several months.

Sites are static html template of 10 pages or less.

The strange thing is that my competitor have my same link and less and now have stolen my #1 position.

If you are not adding content on a regular basis and have not backlinked the site in a while, I would think that that Google sees nothing happening and has devalued the site.

I would add content to your sites and do the various types of backlinking to get Google to recognize that you have a site that should be in a much better spot than Google has given you.

Also, do forget the power of a press release in your backlinking.

You say you have done nothing with them well that is the problem. Sites need to be updated with new content or it's easy to lose your rankings.

So even adding a new 500 word post on the homepage (which will replace the static content that has been there for a while) though still be static as before, but new content will help me with get my sites back ranking? Or is it better to leave the homepage as is and put more internal posts that are not on the homepage?

Leave the homepage as it is; add the new content and create a new inner page and backlink to your inner page.

This rarely heard animal "PANDA" is becoming pain in the ***..... Even I lost my sites.. well, world didn't stopped there, I jumped to another train :D

So for one site I have 15 keywords targeted right now with homepage static article being the EMD kewyord? So now should I go and make new posts on more related and different keywords that have some sort of search volume and start building backlinks to those inner pages now and see what happens?

Should I still do some back links to the homepage as well just to give it some juice as well for it's main keyword?

Any feedback on why some of my sites took a really big hit going from top 3 to all the way to page 15? I can understand moving from page 1 to 2, but why the big jump down since these were sites that were older, had 7 pages of unique content, etc.? I don't know if it was a coincidence, but right before Panda hit I had a 3K profile pyramid done for these sites and when Panda hit these sites just plummeted. I don't know if I should attribute those profile links or not since 1 of the sites still ranking on page 1, though it went from #6 to #10 now even after that profile blast. It just seems at random which sites get hit and how far they go down the SERPs. If I could pinpoint a common trend among them that drop so much and those that don't drop as much I could figure out what to do and not to do.

Don't do any backlinking to the home page... I almost never do for an established site and add content with a related set of KWs and add those pages individually over the course of several days.

After they are up, backlink them with a diverse bunch of backlinks.

I think Google saw 7 pages of content and thought you had a hobby instead of a professional site... my smallest site is 175 pages and I'm adding another 100 pages to it over the next 3 weeks or so.

That small site ranks for a lot of competitive KWs and didn't feel a thing this week when G made their changes.

So will this method help bring up my homepage as well for it's main keyword as well if I don't do any backlinks to it and just focus on the inner page keywords? Will having a link in each of those inner pages pointing back to the homepage with it's keyword help when building those links to the inner pages with their keywords?

Thanks a lot for your great feedback.

could someone explain me this:

The strange thing is that my competitor have my same link and less and now have stolen my #1 position.

Why their sites don't go down?

What is up with the constant drop in rankings every week now? I never seen this befote where a site just seems to constantly be losing rank a few spots every few days. I mean once a site got to a certain rank it would stay there maybe move a couple of spots up or down at times , but not like it is now where it just keeps movinh lower and lower each week. It is like something is slowly squeezing the air of a balloon and it gradually will deflate.

Any way to stop the drop and maybe get it moving in the other direction where it is moving up the SERPS?

Hire a seo expert a quality one and he will make your site regain its position once again within a month.......

Google are clearly switching the weight of backlinks vs content. I have several sites built recent that have no backlinks at all, they rank on the first pages for several relatively good keywords, I also HAD Autoblogs, made good from them up untill Panda.

If the content is good and useful to readers, then others will automatically link to your posts and pages over time.

Sure it helps if you do off-page SEO too, but many people over do this, and although most of the people running Google look like clowns, Matt Cu-n-tts springs to mind, they are not so easily fooled nowdays. Content really IS king.

Although slightly off topic, an good example would be Autoblogs, anyone that tells you that Autoblogs will rank good just by posting duplicate content from various sources and then building a massive amounts of links to all posts are either mentally impaired or making money off spamming services. The days of true Autoblogs are over, this shit used to work but sadly making money online with this method no longer is a viable option.

Listen to some of the comments above, and update your content paying more attention to on-page seo, write killer articles that others will find useful, check for broken links on your website etc.

If you obtain good on-page seo, then think about getting backlinks.

Now I'm gonna get screamed at for my whitehat methods, but to truelly understand how to do blackhat, it really helps to start off white :)

I hope you manage to get your sites back on the first page again.

Most likely your site has been reported and a manual penalty has been enforced on your site to cause it to drop 50 positions down. Wait for 8 weeks for it to clear, if not could be longer and you will likely loss your site.

but it's strange that two sites, totally white, good article, well written lost their position.

Instead I noticed that are now in first page some sites that stolen a paragraph from each site that are in first page, build ton of links with xrumer/scrapebox and are only duplicated content rank better than mine.

If this is Panda, it's really the worst thing on earth, because give worst results and not better.

I hope my sites will go up in some weeks.

I think that I have a manual penalty. Definetely a bad day!
