Suggestions for a new laptop?

I currently have a Dell Studio XPS 1647 (Intel i5 M340 @ 2.27 GHz, 4 GB RAM)

I'm looking for something new, no more than $750 - $800 ish. Preferably something not too big.. I'd say no more than 15.6" monitor. Obviously, higher specs than what my Dell has.

Any recommendations of a good laptop?

Nothing bad about it at all. Have a little extra money though, and was looking to upgrade.

Do yourself a favor and spend the money on something worthwhile. Or save it. I've been fixing computers for the last 11 years. I've fixed thousands. Literally. There is absolutely no need to upgrade. What are you gonna get? An i7 with a bit faster clock that's quad core? Not worth the cost in my opinion. Your choice, but I vote against it. Use that one as long as possible.

If you have a higher budget, get Dell Precision M4500.
IT IS DA BOMB!!!

Been using it for months and it never fails to impress me. I love it so much that I clean it every morning before leaving the house.

The one without modifications/upgrades cost about 2K. But I modified mine by adding more RAM and the best graphics card, so it was about 3K+.
But it's really worth it. A gamer's and IMer's laptop.

They say the M6500 is the walking server/PC.

Check it out.
I believe I don't need any upgrades for the next few years.

You can always save a couple hundred more and then go to dell.com and customize an XPS 17 model with whatever you want.I reckon you can make a pretty good laptop for 1200$.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A665-s6100x which is 850$ at bestbuy and it's a good laptop but the downside is the hdd which is at 5400 rpm and the integrated graphics card from intel but so far the games I tried on it worked decently.From my point of view the best way to go with a laptop is to customize it because you can add whatever you want according to your budget.
