Can you rank with scraped articles?

Just wanting people's opinions about the likelyhood of ranking a site that uses articles found on article directories for content.

I'm not using articles that rank for anything, so I won't be competing with the article itself.

So lets say I want to create a site about coffee makers. I go to EzineArticles and find an article that is focused on the keyword "delonghi coffeemaker".

I take that article for my site, but the keyword I focus on is "buy cheap delonghi coffeemaker". The original article doesn't show up in serps for the new keyword, and none of the first page listings are targeting this specific keyword.

Will it be possible to rank, even though the article is scraped?

so what your asking is .. can i rank on duplicate content? The answear is most likely no

How do people rank with autoblogs then?

I bring this up also because I did a search today on a computer issue, found an article. Then I varied the search a little and found the same article on a different site. I did it 2 more times and found the same exact article ranking number one in google, on different sites.

So do you guys think an article ranking like that is a random fluke, or is it a very doable thing to rank a scraped article?

In any case, will you make it harder for yourself to rank. I always use unique content on my website and for article submission do I spin scraped articles very well!
