What you say is true!
But you can 'train' them some tasks. My worker have only done a basic computer hardware course, but have a good speed in working on the internet. BUT his English writing skills is not good, and I can hire a separate workers (students) to get an article re-written at $1 each.
As you say, you can't expect someone with talent to work for this salary, but you can always hire a somewhat proficient photoshop designer for maybe $8 a day, but most of the time these people just have academic knowledge and chances are they haven't heard the word "Wordpress".

Just wear the worker's shoe for a bit. I feel the sarcasm in your post.
You are so right... there's plenty of people here willing to work for 50-60$ a month because it keeps them fed... it's just the way it is. The wastefulness of others is what should make you feel bad, not giving someone a job that desperately needs it.

dont compare how much the does the $5 worth in the US and how much in a poor country, in a country its a one day sallary, in another its not enough for a bubble gum, in a 3rd one its okay for one hour work...blaming anyone becouse he is working too cheap is not fair...a low amount money for you can be a dream for someone on another side of the world

To clarify:
When people want to get a job done at Freelancer etc, they hire the most experienced out of the lot, not the cheapest. You will always see a lot of low bids from 3rd world. Where do you think they end up? See, most of them got no reviews.
If you can give them jobs that require low level of skills, a gig that takes $30 for 6 days for example, will provide a job for someone who wouldn't have made a single penny otherwise.
World is a lot more complicated, and I feel what you all feel.
But a single job created in this part of the world is something to be proud of and have some satisfaction with. I do not mean about myself, but just need to give you an idea of how things work in the 3rd world.

So I'm actually proud on you OP, that you gave a job to one of this poor guys, and maybe he will be now making 5 times more as he did before! (That's the same like if you offer 10K job someone in the US.)

Once he is trained, he can easily make 10-15 such articles per day. Sell one for $3 , and vuala: You are making 25-40 bucks per day, nearly passive. The demand certainly would be there... And if you train 10 such writers... you can imagine Good luck anyway!

Not that im supportive of the rates OP is offering but in sub-continent..its better than 0$ per hour seeing the level of unemployment despite basic/college level education. Thats the reality my friend. I get $~25-30 a day and im highly educated where I am from.. The same work I do, If I was in USA, I'd be earning 3 times more..I know this because where i work is an outsource op. You know why I'm still working? even for me its damn hard to get better job.
I know and I have seen people working for $4-5/8 hrs a day starting salary with Bachelors and Masters level of education...I'll tell you these ppl would be willing to work extra hours for similar $rates, they'll be grateful. Its all data entry and robotic/monotonous work tho. If you can hire them and teach them, they'll appreciate the extra money.

For sure in some country $5 a day it's good salary, my point is he should offer better rates, how much is he actually earning exploiting that guy ?? Guess that's how he pay jr.vip exploiting people.

I saw Engineers and doctors working for less that that amount of money a day in my country. While some of you guys might be doubting Shaun, you should look at it in a different way as he has opened a door for someone that actually needs the money despite how low the pay is.
I think that would depend the profit margins he can get from this.

Guys...if the guy didn't want the job he could quit and find a better one. He isn't exploiting anyone, he's helping someone out otherwise he wouldn't be working for him. Like it has already been said, $5 a day in some countries is a DREAM.
