Which Freelancer/Company To Do Google First Page?

Can anyone recommend a company or freelancer that will get a site on Google first page? I would like to get a site ranked for a relatively simple keyphrase niche site. Ideally this is a freelancer that you will rave about.

I've tried freelancers in the past but didn't go by recommendation so I got burned Alas, I dust myself off and go by word of mouth this time. If you can help, you're an absolute star!

No matter where you go, you really have to do background check before. So many scams or simply people with no or poor SEO skills.

The best advice...ask to see a few clients names, contact them to make sure they are client, check for the longevity of performance and finally make sure that it's all "clean SEO" stuff if you want mid/long term results.

IMO, it's better to spend a few hours doing this with your final selection and avoid your past experience.
