Hey those from UK! Im looking to relocate, Which one you think is the best city to Live in From these 4 , and WHY?

Milton Keynes
Reading
Northampton
Bristol

Which one would you say has the most beautiful scenary ? Which one has the lowest crime rate and doesn't have a lot of those Chavs ? :D
And on the other hand which one of those 4 would you say is the worst to live in?

Unfortunately they will all have 'chavs'.
The further south you go, the more expensive the cost of living will be. (Such as Bristol)

Bristol is a nice place though, if you can stand that annoying fucking accent they all have.

i have lived 5 years in Canterbury. Loved the place, and i am still missing it :S

Try Bath, if you can afford it. To be honest its not much more expensive than Bristol. Personally I like both places, with Bath being a bit more chilled out due to the student population. The surrounding countryside is a stones throw away and you still have the bonus of not being too far from other major cities and beautiful Devon and Cornwall.
You will have "idiots" wherever you live!
Avoid Milton Keynes, Reading and Northampton. :(
Good luck with whatever you choose.
I live abroad now, but still have family and friends over that way.......even though I am a Londoner :D

there is only one place in the UK you need to be and thats ESSEX! ;)

Milton keynes, isn't that the youngest city in the uk?

As in their average age group is in the 18 - 20s

It is a good place but then again there might be chavs there

Why do you want to move?

London without a doubt. or Kent if you like beautiful country side, know as the garden of England

i have lived in northampton for 21 years.

Started lovely if you can live in West Hunsbury (avoid briar hill, camp hill, kingsthorpe, east hunsbury, wooton.

As for Milton Keynes, i would live on outskirts if possible.

Cant comment on the other places

London is horrible to live in with family!
To visit- Yes! but not to live

Don't think living in any big city will be that good - I live in a town and love it.
London is a shitehole unless you are a trendy man about town without a family, Bristol isn't bad, Milton Keynes is a hole, well a hole split up by roundabouts galore and a stupid grid layout (unless you are from the US then I guess you are used to that!).

Reading is nothing but a through road to London (stayed there once for a week - never again!) and is dismal.

Northampton, been to a few parts and if you avoid some of the places already mentioned you should be okay.

Of course, everyone will have their own opinion and I am in no way putting people down who live there - guarantee city folk wouldn't like where I live.

Thinking of crime - as the population grows larger and the houses closer together then the rate of crime will grow. Bigger the city, more the crime.

Just my opinion - if you want to be close to the big cities that would give you more scope: possibly cheaper housing, good transport links and enough space to turn the music up to 3 without the neighbours listening to it as well :)

BTW - chavs get everywhere, they are like cockroaches.....just stamp on them :)

The important point is where do you live at the moment and do you like it, then compare to the laces you list to see if they are alike.

Brighton is by far my favorite city in UK.

I studied there for couple of years back in the day.

From the ones the OP mentioned, I'd say Reading. I'm living there at the moment and it looks like a nice city. Not so expensive, haven't had a problem at all (been here for years), nice views... From what I've heard about Southampton and Milton Keynes - avoid those. No idea about Bristol, though

Sadly, not a great bunch to choose from if you have to go to one of those four! Bristol has had more riots than the others, if you like tension. Milton Keynes has more roundabouts which will be interesting of your American, Reading has a rubbish train link to London if you like complaining and Northampton has most derelict factories if you like dismal photography.

But all of them are close to lovely places so if you are willing to commute you will probably find the most affordable property near Northampton (probably). As a place to work, Milton Keynes probably has the nicest offices and industrial estates.

Hope that helps... a bit!

Ha ha, equalizer:

Definition for chav's:
Chav ( ) is a term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom. The stereotypical "chav"--known also as a charver in Yorkshire and North East England--is an aggressive teenager, typically unemployed or of white working class background, who repeatedly engages in anti-social behaviour...

Get the picture!

Wouldnt live in any one of those places mate ...

but there must be a reason why you chose those ... ?

I'd head south-west ... further down than bristol

maybe the english riviera

:)
