Unfortunately we have an asshat Governor who is unable to see the big picture and realize just what signing this bill will do.

Amazon counted for over 1/3 of my overall IM income and with just less than 24 hours notice its all gone with a stroke of the pen.:rip:

Open a LLC in a different state and a new Associates account for it.

Or sell the sites before the revenue completely drops off and they become relatively worthless...

Just need to research and see what the california franchise tax board would think of it. They really are worse than dealing with the federal government.

I'm really sorry to hear that bro. I'm sure though if you were already doing well with Amazon then you'll quickly migrate to something else and all will be well.

There must be heaps of Amazon affiliates in California so surely Amazon would be feeling this as well.

I got an email yesterday morning letting me know about what might happen. They said that we had until September till they pass the bill, later that day I receive an email that they passed the bill and that they will be terminating all California Amazon Affiliates. I had just signed up a week ago.

I don't know what they're thinking. Other states already tried this to the same result; I understand they need more money but taxing affiliate sales = affiliate networks drop the affiliates in those states and then the state doesn't even get the income tax off of it and there is less money being spent in the state overall.

I don't know why people can't see the big picture or just look at any number of other states that tried this exact same tax law and see how it backfired and why CA can't figure out its problem is not its tax rates but its ridiculous spending.

LA County Health Services has over 40 CPA's doing data entry work exclusively. They are paid roughly 60k per year, plus benefits plus pension. The equivalent job in the private sector pays 18-25k/year.

Maybe we should all sign-up for food stamps, unemployment, welfare and other state funded programs.

Was wondering if anyone figured out an easy way around this? Does just opening an LLC in another state clear you, or does where you are domiciled have something to do with it? I suppose if you run all of your income for that site or those sites through the LLC, then you should be fine right? Maybe you would need the company and also a PO Box or something? Anyone? Bueller?

has anybody done anything to continue with their Amazon Associates account? Like setting up a LLC in a different state, or changing their address from California to another state where it's still ok to have an Amazon Associates account?

Because I my account was also closed and so I'm looking into updating my contact info to another state...or see what other options I have...
