Whats the advantage in the dedicated ip address - if any

Search Engines index sites on shared IP's faster then on dedi's.
From my experience, I always start off a site on a shared IP for indexing purposes. Search Engines index sites on shared IP's faster then on dedi's. You can benefit from other peoples SEO for your first year, or until your site out grows shared hosting and move it to a dedicated IP on a VPS or something.
I never build a fresh site on a dedicated IP, you will find yourself working to hard for traffic. I hope that helps!
Of course unique IPs makes a difference, especially if you have multiple sites on the same IP that you own. If it's a public IP, and mutliple unrelated sites are on it, then it makes no difference.
I have wondered if getting a dedicated IP and an ssl cert in your site's name even if you don't do sales would maybe get Google to take your site more seriously thus giving your site more weight such as authority site status faster. With other authority factors in place etc.
I have no reason to think this would work, just speculation.

The amount of resources has nothing to do with the amount of IP adresses.
Indexing your site on dedicated ip or shared ip makes no difference. The difference is the amount of links to your website. Use a meta indexing tool and you'll be indexed in hours.
I have lots of sites on dedicated IP's and I have never seen this behavior by the search engines. It is no harder or easier to get your site crawled, index, or ranked because you are on a shared or dedicated IP. It has no bearing at all on how the search engines treat your site.
That's not what I'm saying. I said you share an IP with lets say 100 other sites, those site might have been online for months or even years. You will get crawled faster sharing an IP with sites that constantly update there sites. That's a fact, from experience of 5 years building blogs.
