I sold a website in flippa with uique content and some unique design. The buyer edited all the content and design...
4 hours ago i received a message on flippa asking for the buyer email, because he copied other website.


Now i received this email:

Hi,

I see all the content and graphics of your site http://uccccc.com were copied from cccccenow.com

if you don't remove the entire copied content from your server within 24hrs.

My lawyer will be dmca notice to your hosting provider , domain registrar, google search, and google adwords.

This will be the final warning !

Don't do anything or contact the buyer?

Well, is not your problem anymore isn't it? How can he really send it to your hosting when you have transferred the domain. Maybe is just a bluff.

Tell him you hadnt sold it After copying the content.

The new owner changed all the content to his.

And you Would have surely removed if you had the authority to.

Just send This with the Email of your client .

Or just tell him to contact the new owner, Tell him He is the one who copied content, not you.

Ok so just tell the client to remove the content. if he's not agreeing talk to flippa support and let him get banned.

I contacted the owner of other website the email of flippa buyer. Now they need to talk ...

Think all of us are guilty sometimes of knee jerk reactions when our integrity is questioned. When it comes to legal matters a calm, cool and collected approach is usually the best.

You did the right thing in asking questions and hope others followed this thread to it is conclusion.

Nothing to be scared really, this happens, just tell him that when you sold the site it contained unique content, and the new buyer changed it (if this is true of course).

Why would you be scared? He doesn't have your info, registrar or hosting since it now belongs to someone else? What is his lawyer going to do? Send a warning letter to thin air? You sold the site correct? You are not hosting it? Common sense tells you that it has nothing to do with you anymore. I wouldn't even forward any complaints to the new buyer since you don't want to be stuck in the middle of it. The new buyer could try to claim that is how you sold it to him as well as do a reversal if he thinks that he may get the site shut down.

I would just let it go and move on. If the person who is claiming allegations is serious then he will go after the hosting/registrar that the site is now sitting on.

That's a pretty smart scam. Probably bought your site very cheap and then tries this hustle on you. I'm just assuming it's the same person though.

well first off it will cost about $3,500 to send all those C&D letters if he uses a decent lawyer. To most people it's not worth it.

Secondly your buyer was a retard if he erased all orig content and replaced it with copied.

Third, you did remove YOUR analytics and adsense didn't you???

Fourth, if you're still hosting him you have some legal obligation to pull the whole site down if you want to.

Fifth, does your hosting allow you to host other people? I bet not. If this gets to your host they may shut down your account.

Sixth, since this douchbag of a new owner is causing you trouble you could be evil...
1. report him to flippa, get flippa all over his ass
2. if and only if flippa bans him (or you're user name on flippa means nothing to you) then pull down the whole site and give him no access to the ftp or domain.
3. put it all back up on a different domian with new orig content and resell it on flippa again.
4. sell the domain name privatly or use it yourself again, just don't resell it on flippa.

Seventh, if you have already transfered the domain to him then you can prove he is the new owner. They can do nothing but drag you into court and waste their time, a lawyer won't go that far because he couldn't win if you pulled the site hosting down today.

The guy that contacted me on flippa is a active user, and he knows that i sold the website. I think that are the same persons in the email and flippa.
I don't transfered the domain because i bought the host and domain in the same provider...and yeah...was a error. Now, i buy domain and domain in different providers.

The site don't used adsesne and analytics wasn't installed when i sold the website (i don't remember exacly, but i think that i shuted down or something...)

One thing that makes me a bit more relaxed: I have a complete wordpress backup of the website when i sold it.

And i don't host the buyer...the buyer just keeped with the original host account in hostwinds.

To protect your interest, you shall give the buyer phone number. Or out of courtesy let the buyer know about it first.

And btw, sharing his private info like that could really piss him off and given the circumstances I'm sure somewhere there's a privacy law on that sort of thing too. But I'm just a caveman, not a lawyer. Uugga.
