If I change my wp theme will it effect my rankings?

I've done this,I dropped for a week or 2 and then was back were I was #1.
It's a risk but then so is a crap looking website which won't convert regardless what position it's in(talking about my old site btw).

Depends of what is your motivation. If you have 10K visitors a day, and not making any money with the current theme, I see no reason to keep it there, even if you loose your rank temporarily after changes. Money should be the decider after all, so always consider this aspect.

Money is a factor but so is the quality of the template in terms of coding and framework... The money typically follows that.

It depends on the way you are monetizing the site.A small example like thesis and bluesense themes are good to put on Adsence as it is having a high CTR and if your site is having these themes and you are changing it although knowing that your site is an Adsence one then I must say that it could happen that you might lose your ranking completely.So be careful while changing the theme as it might hamper your site's ranking to a great extent.
