Email with Delayed Auto-Responder. HOW???

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a solution everywhere, but cannot find anything solid, so thought that someone here might help and this could be useful post for many people.

I want to make an email with delayed (timing) auto-responder, but don't want to use domain email address or newsletter services...

It has to look like an average internet user.

I want to use gmail, hotmail or any other, just don't know if its possible or how to set something like that.

I read somewhere here that people even have series of emails, something like:

someone sends you an email, X min. or hours later they receive an auto-responder, and after another X min. or hours they receive another auto-responder.

But how to set something like that

Please if someone can shed some light on this...

Ok , there's a simple but little dirty solution for all platforms:

1. Get mozilla thunderbird ( it's an opensource email client for win/linux/mac )
Let's use this client since I don't know yet which OS you need this for.

2. Setup your "real person" accounts in it.

3. Set your autoreply

4. Now set thunderbird to "download messages every xx minutes"

Result: TB will download your messages at every xx minutes and send the replies.
So the actual delay will vary. But replies from real people also vary

That's a simple free solution for all operating sytems.
Maybe we don't need to reinvent the wheel here.

I set the "Check for new messages every 10 Minutes" under the Thunderbird server settings, but like I said it still sends the vacation response immediately?

Any ideas of what I am missing?

i would like to know this too. i'm using thunderbird but it's replying instantly

You will need a autoreponder script for this function. This is the only way to control the outcome and to safe yourself some sanity.

the thunderbird solution doesnt work very well and the client has to be open 24/7 to work properly.

Little dated, but forum says you're online so hopefully you see this.

You set your delay to 10 minutes. The delay is the time it takes TB to download the messages. So for some people, they won't be waiting as long for replies. Set it for a few hours at least.

All email clients do that (thunderbird, outlook, etc), just set up a delay in the options and set a rule to answer to emails you target.

But yeah you have to let your email client run 24/7.

Or even simpler, just wait for the replies to pile up, then load up TB and have it import new mail and reply to it all. My only concern with this method is how google will end up responding. Replying all to once (especially if in the 100's), I image throws up a red flag in their system?
