My experience to get PR more quickly than normal:

0 week
contents, sitemaps, webmaster tools, some good aggregator.
(The pr update it's more quick if you have an aged domain).

1 week
Get strong and reliables Backlinks in home page (it's not important to link special keywords).
+ contents.

2 week
Get backlinks in home page and some special page.
+contents.

3 week
Continue linking home and random page with minor importance sites.
+ contents.

4 week
Stop linking.
+ content

5 week
Continue linking home and random page with minor importance sites.
+ contents.

6 week
Strong home page linking, minor sites linking page randomly.

Continue with new content till the pr update. It's worked for me (if not the first update it's almost sure that the second it's the good one... if not, there is some prob with yours linking pages).

Have you some other tecniques to share with us?

i saw some people are getting pr 4 with 5 days.. any one knows how they do it?

It can be possible, but you will have to see the next PR update to actually see if you were successfull or not.

And PR updates happen a few times a year.

Yeah, we don't really have any control over the time, like someone else has said if the next update isn't for 6 months it's going to take you 6 months.

Also I could be wrong here (someone wiser feel free to correct me), but isn't there a limit to how many ranks a page can increase per update? I'm sure I've read that in a few places.

Edit ====> Seemingly not :D looks like some people have had a 5 fold increase in page rank today

Actually the pr update it's every 4 months, there was one on jan/feb and another one on april/may, next one could be on ago/sept.

But if someone have some new technique could share with us.

Why do you want it so badly? Ranking is what generates money, not the PR

what i have found that if you offer some valuable data, statistics, mathematical equation you get PR without any headache.
Here is the proof.

All the backlinking was done for main domain but inner page which just had 25 characters got PR2 :D

You talk about aged domains. What gets me is the domain i setup 6 months ago went from a PR0 -> PR2 yet my 3yr old domain remained a PR0. I dont get it. The 3yr old domain has many more pages and is far more informative. Im not backlinking to the main page though, all backlinks go to individual pages. Why should that matter?

Also, is it really all about backlink quality? My contact me page has a PR3 yet iv never backlinked too it. And my privacy policy and terms both have a PR2. Strange.

This is just where G. like to tease us :D

Consider to use a no-index on your contact page (unless your address is on that page) and on your private policy page. No need to waste internal link juice to those sites.

which is the most important thing when you try to increase the PR?
as far as i know i should have many external links to my site

It could depend from content, if your 3yr old domain with 50 pages and your 6 months old domain have 50 pages too it's normal that you have take pr in the second one and not in the first one it's just math question... Try to update your content or ping it up daily...

How many backlinks total did you gather?

it could depend from the quality of backilinks.

Why you should stop linking at 4th week....

You cant receive daily backlinks and then stops without any motivation... just give right time at big G for a good digestion...
