Article Marketing Robot (AMR) Lost Rank

Ok I have just had another site lose rank after blasting with AMR, this time I did PR only sites, all at once and then pinged after getting live links a few days later. I was slowly creeping up the ranks and was on page three for a highly competitive term, now i'm nowhere.

I have seen another one of my clients sites drop about 10 positions (site is much more established) after a blast as well.

Lots of people are talking about losing rank after AMR blasts - I wanted to start a thread to discuss losing rank specifically - if you have lost rank after an AMR blast please post here and explain what type of blast you did.

Definitely not.
I blasted an article recently and my site jumped from page 45 to 29 now. I use RankTracker for this.

I use it mainly to:
1) blast buffer sites with all "guns"
2) blast money site with PR3+ sites
3) dripped blasting

If you blast to thousands of directories at once while you have no backlinks or after you have built like 2 links/month in the past, yes, might happen...
Could also be a dance.

Did you blast a lot of articles to the same website using the same account? Or did you just blast once?

I'm thinking the following: If you first blast a couple of articles your site will increase in rankings. But if you keep blasting all the articles in the same account, the articles will most of the time be on the same page at the article directory. One single page with a shitload of links to your site will definitely look like a spam page and google will ignore these links or even give you a penalty for it.

I always blast one or two articles per website I try to promote per account. Then I create a new account with all directories and blast to this new account. I personally never lost ranks using AMR.

I usually blast each article on site with AMR. I think all pages need a good number of links.
I link them together or i leave only one link on article. And i never ping them (maybe blast with scrapebox)

If used right it's in the top 5 tools!!



Read about the forums you will see a pagerank update happened so if you focused on a pattern of links and they lost pagerank the your SERPS would get a slap!

Sounds like the Google Dance to me. If you keep building links, it should work out okay. The people who have problems are the ones who stop building links when they see something like this.

A few considerations:

(1) If it's a new site, blasting is a bad idea. Dripping is much more effective and much less likely to result in The Dance.
(2) It's better to deep-link AMR articles to your site than to link just to the home page.
(3) Have you continued to build links?
(4) Content - don't forget about it! Keep adding content, no matter what happens, and make it GOOD content (400+ words in paragraphs, h1 tag with main keyword for page, keyword in title tag, etc.)
(5) Use AMR to build links to the new content you created in (4) above.
(6) Look into including other kinds of backlinking. Don't rely solely on AMR.

Good to hear responses from everyone else - all in all it seems fairly positive.

One site that lost rank has recovered slightly but still is a few positions off where it was. The other one (newer site) is still sand boxed but to be fair it might not be just the AMR that did it.

I've left AMR alone for a few days anyway to let things settle, see what happens. Might start it up again on another site in a week or so and see what happens.

Well, it is normal that the site dissapears for 7-14 days after the blast, but it always comes back on a better position.

I had a site sitting on #14/#15 since May with a bunch of edu's, wikipedia and subdomain.about.c0m in front of me.

~3 weeks ago I blasted 2 articles linking to the 5 hubs + TBPR5 directories linking to money site.

I did NOT ping any of the articles.

I did do a handful of random miniblasts with SB linking to live articles on the top directories (TBPR4+).

I'm sitting on #9 now since about 10 days and traffic has more than doubled. My site has TBPR2 only ... all others in top10 are TBPR3-6.

I bought AMR just recently and I'm pretty with happy it. Trying it on my other sites as well now.

You may lose rank temporary, but it comes back stronger. If you lost rank for an extended period of time, it is most likely from something else.

I lost some rank with amr but maybe its anchor link diversity problem. I will try to blast some random niche releated links to my site and see if it helpts

I think at that time Google was starting there pr update after seeing major movements in serps and pr. I wont mine seeing an update on his progress...

Yes, another AMR thread but it's good to share some best practices for using AMR as I think it's an awesome tool but needs to be used intelligently.
I have not lost rankings due to AMR (except dancing on a new site) but I see the links becoming ineffective (i.e. no ranking improvements) when blasting the same site over and over. The author footprint is an interesting theory, really not sure about that, I mean, would Google really be checking author pages and making those connections? Seems doubtful, better just to devalue cheap article sites wholesale. I am looking forward to trying the new author name spinning thing though.

I am seeing zero results from AMR direct blasting and am using it instead to blast my buffer sites and to backlink my backlinks. I am sure I am missing something though. Well, on a site I am working on right now, I got good initial results blasting the homepage, but to get it to no. 1 I feel that it took other things I threw into the mix. After it got to no. 1 I mostly stopped blasting it, though I rotate the URL in sometimes in blasts on other pages.

I started blasting a sub-page to see if I could get that to rank and have run several article drips (probably several hundred live backlinks by now) linking to that subpage and seen NO MOVEMENT IN A MONTH. I have tried both spun and duplicate articles to no avail. I have also imported new directories, so it is not even about getting the same backlinks from the same sources over and over.

Now, there may have been some sort of freeze what with Panda and everything, but I would have expected some results by now so I am moving onto other things, like high-PR blog commenting, building web 2.0s etc.

I would be interested in hearing other peoples's experience with this. It might just be this site, niche, whatever, or maybe I just need to wait, but right now I am going to have to start a new site to test more AMR strategies because it seems like something weird is happening there - my fear is that backlinks from these article sites have been massively devalued. It's what I'd do if I was Google...

I think you may be on the right track. It's good to get links from multiple sources and of multiple kinds. Perhaps you were leaning to heavily on article links.

My own subpages backed by articles links have done well, but in most cases I haven't done only article links. I also avoid linking to the same page from the same sites over and over.
